Lesson: Food
Materials used: students themselves, board, text-book, worksheet,
computer.
Time: 50 minutes.
Skills: reading, writing and speaking, listening
Objectives:
- Students will be able to anticipate the content of the text,
discussing the title of the text,
 Students will be able to identify details from written
messages, key-information from authentic texts,
 Students will be able to write short paragraphs on the topic
“Food”
 Students will be able to express opinions related to the topic.

Activity 1:- Warm-up


organizing the class , checking homework
Teacher’s activity : Teacher tries to create a pleasant and
comfortable atmosphere by means of routine conversation:
Greetings. Oral questions (Who’s on duty today? Who’s absent?
How are you today?).
Students’activity: Students answer the teacher’s questions. The
students greet the teacher
Hello teacher! ….. is on duty. ….. is absent!

Time:1-3 min
Purpose: - to warm up the class atmosphere; - to get students to
relax and to get ready for the lesson;
Activity 2: Lead in- questions and answers
Aim: to introduce the new topic to the students, the students will
be able to anticipate the content of the text.
Time: 5 minutes.
Procedure: the teacher asks the students the following questions:
1. What “new food” products have you eaten for the first
time in the last three years?
2. Are you a healthy eater?
3. Do you buy ready –made or processed food?Why or
why not?
Students are supposed to come up with answers. The teacher gives
feed-back.

Activity 3 : Shopping crossword


Aim: to help students extract the most important shopping
vocabulary from certain texts.
Time: 15 minutes.
Procedure: students will be divided into pairs. I will explain that
they will be doing a crossword together. Each student A will
receive a handout worksheet A and each student B will receive a
handout worksheet B.I point out that A knows all the down
answers and B knows all the across answers. Students take it in
turns to give a definition so that their partner can guess it. Then
one of the students will go to the blackboard and write the correct
word. Teacher explains any unknown words and gives the
translation.Teacher gives them feed-back.

Activity 4 : Guess the right word


Aim: students will be able to identify details from written
messages, key-information from authentic texts,
Time:5 minutes.
Procedure: in pairs, students will read the sentences and they will
arrange the letters so that they will obtain the right words. The
teacher will assess their work.
Activity 5 : Right containers
Aim: students will be able to complete the list of shopping with the
right name of the container.
Time: 5 minutes
Procedure: the students will have to complete to some sentences
as quickly as they can. The questions refer to names of the
containers. The teacher gives them feed-back.

Activity 6: Read about organic food


Aim: students will be able to work with the knowledge acquired
on food.
Time: 10 minutes
Procedure: students will read the text and match the people to
what the say . They have to match six correct sentences.

Activity 7: Food shopping survey


Aim: students will listen to a conversation and choose the correct
answers to complete the survey form.
Time:10 minutes
Procedure: students will listen to a conversation and choose the
correct answers to complete the survey form.

Activity 8: Feed-back and homework.


Aim: to review vocabulary related to food.
Time: 5 minutes
Procedure: students will have to answer short questions about the
food they like or not, then the teacher gives students the homework
for next time. Write a short pharagraph about healthy and
unhealthy food.
