Design and Methodology

Design and Methodology refers to the development of a systemor method for a unique
situation.today, the term is most often applied to technological fields in reference to web
design,software or information systems design.

Components of Design Methodology

The key to design methodology is finding the best solution for each design situation, wheter it be
in industrial design, architecture or technology.Design methodology stresses the use of
brainstorming to encourage innovative ideas and collaborative thinking to work through each
proposed idea and arrive at the best solution.Meeting the needs and wants of the end user is
the most critical concern.Design Methodology also employs basic research methods, such as
analysis and testing.

Research Design
Is the set of methods and procedures used in collecting and analyzing measures of the
variables specified in the reasearch problem. The design of a study
type(descriptive,correlation,semi-experimental,experimental review, meta analytic) and sub type
,research problem,hypothesis,independent and dependent variables,experimental design,and ,if
applicable, data collection methods and a statistical analysis plan. A research design is a
framework that has been created to find answers to reseacrh question.

Area of Study
Are interdisciplinary fields of research and scholarship pertaining to particular
geographical,nation/federal, or cultural regions. The term exists primarily as a general
description for what are, in the practice of scholarship, many heterogenous fields of research,
both the social sciences and the humanities.Typical area study programs involve
history, political science ,cultural studies ,languanges, geography ,literature , and related
disciplines. In contrast to cultural studies area studies often include diaspora and emigration
from the area.

Population Sample of the Population

The field of inferential statistics enables you to make educated guesses about the
numerical characteristics of large groups. The logic of sampling gives you a way to test
conclusions about such groups using only a small portion of its members.
Instrument for Data Collection
We assist our customers in developing research instruments. This MAINLY include
Questionnaires and Interview guides. However, there are other instruments that we
assist our clients to develop like observations guides among others depending on varied
research designs.

Questionnaire Method:

One method which can be used to ask questions is to use a questionnaire. This is a set
of written questions on a sheet with spaces provided for respondents to reply to the
questions. Questionnaires are frequently self-administered or they may be used during
an interview. A questionnaire is most useful when you want to collect a small amount of
clearly defined facts from a large number of people. Although very useful, there are two
important disadvantages of self-administered questionnaires: Only people who can read
and write can answer them (many street children are not literate) Less opportunity
exists for street children to explain confusing answers.

Validation of the Questionnaire

The task of developing a new questionnaire or translating an existing questionnaire into
a different language might be overwhelming. The greatest challenge perhaps is to come
up with a questionnaire that is psychometrically sound, and is efficient and effective for
use in research and clinical settings. This article provides guidelines for the
development and translation of questionnaires for application in medical fields, with a
special emphasis on perioperative and pain medicine. We provide a framework to guide
researchers through the various stages of questionnaire development and translation.
To ensure that the questionnaires are psychometrically sound, we present a number of
statistical methods to assess the reliability and validity of the questionnaires .

Sampling Technique
Sampling helps a lot in research. It is one of the most important factors which determines
the accuracy of your research/survey result. If anything goes wrong with your sample
then it will be directly reflected in the final result. There are lot of techniques which help
us to gather sample depending upon the need and situation. This blog post tries to
explain some of those techniques.
Method of Data Analysis
Let's imagine that you have just enrolled in your first college course. After two days of
class, your professor assigns you a research assignment. You are to research which
type of school system is better, private or public. Immediately, you have an opinion of
which system you feel is better, but you realize that conducting research is not about
your own personal opinion. Research is about gathering data that you can analyze and
use to come to some sort of conclusion. So, before you begin your data collection, you
realize that you have a lot to learn about the various methods and techniques of
gathering data.
