BA 158 - LEADERSHIP
FINAL TEAM PROJECT

I. Project Description

The Final Team Project is an integrative project that puts together all the key concepts, models,
and theories covered in the course Leadership (BA 158). It will allow the students to: a) apply
leadership concepts and methods in critically assessing an organization; and b) hone their skills
in working with other people. The intent is to identify key leadership-related issues that have
the greatest impact on strategic business performance and to recommend practical, evidence-
based leadership solutions that are responsive to these challenges.

II. Project Requirements

It will have two components - the oral report (40%) and the written report (60%). The Oral
Report will have a duration of at most 30 minutes (the time will be monitored). The format of
the oral presentation will depend on the creativity and preference of the group. All members
of the group are required to speak during the oral report. Meanwhile, the Written Report
should only reach a maximum 10 pages (including annexes and attachments), with 1.5 space
and Arial Font 12, using an A4 paper. The format of the written presentation will likewise
depend on the creativity and preference of the group.

III. Project Content and Coverage

You will have to approach an organization willing to cooperate with you. The organizations that
are suitable for this requirement include:
• Organizations (private or public) with a minimum of 40 regular employees
• Departments or subunits of a larger organization with a minimum of 40 regular employees.

The assessment may explore a diverse set of leadership-related issues or it may focus on one
leadership issue of great strategic importance to the organization. Methods such as interviews,
focus group discussions and surveys may be employed to collect data for the organizational
assessment. The list below indicates the coverage of the oral and written report:

1. Company Background - at a minimum, cover the following: Vision, mission, values

(VMV), Founders, Historical Highlights (including company growth in number of
branches and employees, timeline), Table of Organization, Products and Services,
Indication of Financial Performance

2. Focus of the Review

• Purpose and objective of the study
• Scope and Limitations
• Research Questions

3. Organizational Diagnosis
• Problem Statement

4. Proposed Leadership Development Program Interventions and Analysis

5. Summary, Conclusions, and Recommendations

Appendices (data, interview excerpts, questionnaire, etc.)

The Overall Rating for the project will be computed using the following grading system —

There will be a Peer Evaluation Report to be consolidated by the Team Leader. Each member
of the team should rate all its members from 0-10, 10 being the highest and pass his/her
ratings, in one sheet of paper with signature at the end, to the Team Leader, in a sealed
manner. The Team Leader will compute for the average rating for each team member and
summarize everything in one paper, signed by him/her at the bottom. He/She will put
everything, including the ratings submitted by the team members in a sealed brown envelope
to be passed to the Professor on the last day of class. These average ratings will have an
impact on the score to be received by each team member as follows:

8 - 10 : Member gets the overall rating of the group

5-7 : Member gets -3 from the overall rating of the group
2-4 : Member gets -6 from the overall rating of the group
0-1 : Member gets -10 from the overall rating of the group.
