1 Introduction
These Release Notes provide an overview of OTDS Enterprise Directory Synchronization 10.5.0,
including new features, delivery information, and supported platforms. OpenText recommends that
you read these Release Notes in conjunction with the documentation included with the software
package. If any conflicts exist, the Release Notes supersede the other documentation.

We also recommend that you check the OpenText Knowledge Center

posted after the initial release of this product.

2 About OTDS Enterprise Directory Synchronization


OpenText Directory Services (OTDS) manages user and group identity information for OpenText
components. OpenText Directory Services - Enterprise Directory Synchronization (Enterprise
Directory Sync) allows you to synchronize users to an OTDS partition located in the OpenText cloud.
This document describes how to install, configure, and administer Enterprise Directory Sync.

Enterprise Directory Sync is available for use with OTDS 10.5.0 SP1 Patch 6 and above.

3.3 Documentation errata


3.3.1 User Permissions required by OTDS to read the Deleted Objects Volume
of Active Directory
To fully support monitoring by USN or Dir. Sync queries for Active Directory of Global Catalog,
the userid that will run synchronization must have permission to Read the Deleted Objects
volume.

4 Supported environments and compatibility


This section provides details about supported platforms, systems, and versions.

4.1 Supported systems


4.1.1 Prerequisites
Note: Only the products and versions specified in the Release Notes are supported. Other versions
have not been tested and are therefore not officially supported for this version. The Release
Notes contain the definitive list of supported versions. Any other versions mentioned in the
product documentation are superseded by the versions specified in the Release Notes.

If no service pack, maintenance level, patch level or similar is explicitly mentioned for a
specific software version, then OpenText supports all released by the manufacturer for this
version, unless explicitly stated otherwise. However, new major releases of platform
components are not automatically supported.

4.1.1.1 Java Environment

Java 2 Platform Standard Edition Development Kit 7.0 (JDK 7.0) or


Java 2 Platform Standard Edition Runtime Environment 7.0 (JRE 7.0) – Update 21 or later.

Note: 64-bit release of JDK/JRE is required.

4.1.1.2 Apache Tomcat

Apache Tomcat 7.0.55 is supported and subsequent Tomcat 7.0 releases will also be supported,
unless otherwise stated.

Apache Tomcat 8.0.12 is supported and subsequent Tomcat 8.0 releases will also be supported,
unless otherwise stated.

Note: 64-bit release of Apache Tomcat is required.

OTDS 10.5.0 SP1 and above. All supported browsers are currently only supported on Windows
operating systems.

5 Installation and upgrade notes
This section provides additional installation and upgrade information, including related or third-party
product information and any required critical patches.

5.1 Installation notes


Before you install OTDS Enterprise Directory Synchronization, review these additional installation
notes and verify related product or third-party product requirements.

• When patching Directory Services, it is crucial that the patch is executed from an elevated
command line as outlined in the patch installation documentation. Double-clicking the .msp or
.msi file through Windows can cause issues.

• When installing and configuring OTDS to use Java 8, the “-XX:MaxPermSize=256m” setting is no
longer necessary and will result in a warning in the Tomcat logs if it is set.

6 Fixed Issues
This section provides information about past issues that have been fixed in this release.

Enterprise Directory Synchronization can lose
connection to OTDS server, resulting in a "Cannot
connect to server" error.
