hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Post Office (Monthly
Income Account) Rules, 1987, namely : —
1. (1) These xules may be called 'he Post Office (Monthly Income
Account) (Amendment) Rules, 19y3.
(2) They shall come into force on the 1st day of June, 1993.
2. In the Post Office (Monthly Income Account) Rules, 1987.—(i) for
rub 4, the following italc shall be substituted, namely :— "4. opening of
accounts—A depositor may open more tinn one account under these rules
subject to the condition that deposits in all accounts taken together shall not
^exceed rupees two lakhs and four thousand in single account and rupees four
lakhs and eight thousand in joint account";

(ii) in rule 5, for sub rule (1), the following sub-rules shall oe substi-
tuted, namely:—
"(1) There shall be cnl^ one deposit hi the account of six thousand
rupees or multiple thereof not exceeding rupees two lakhs and four
thousand in single account and rupees four lakhs and eight thousand
in case of joint account".
NOTE: The principal rules were published vide GSR 701 (E) dated 30th
August, 1987 and amended vide GSR No. 805 (E) dated 21st July,
1988, GSR No. 46(E) dated 20-1-1989, GSR 581 (E) dated 12-9-1991
and GSR No. 430(E) dated 24-4-H:92.
