DIRECTIONS

This PDF contains the pattern for the wings, dress and hat.
The foam rubber for the wings should be cut without seam allowance.
You should leave additional seam allowance of 0.4 inches/1 cm for the fabric wings.
GIRL’S LADYBUG COSTUME If the fabric is very stretchy, don’t leave seam allowance for a better fit.
Seam allowance for the dress and hat is included - 0.5 cm/0.2 in for sewing and
2.5 cm/1/2 inch for hems. I leave narrow seam allowances because I assemble the
details only with a serger. If you are going to use another sewing technique, please
add appropriate seam allowances.
MATERIALS
1. Foam rubber. I used 1.5 cm/o.5 inches sheet. You may use a little wider or thiner.
2. Red knitted fabric. It may be any type of jersey, knit, spandex, rayon. It is
important to be stretchy so that the foam rubber fits into the wings easily. I used
95/5 cotton/elastane.
3. Some kind of thick black fabric for the spots. We used plush, because it is thick
enough to prevent the glue leak through.
4. Textile glue.
5. Pipe cleaners and some pon pons for the antennae. If you prefer you may use
headband. I made the costume in the winter and a hat seemed more appropriate.

SEWING DIRECTIONS
If you use a regular sewing machine check the manual for most appropriate
stretch stitch or use a narrow zigzag stitch.
Seam and hem allowances are included - 1/4''/0.5 cm for seams and 1 inch/2.5 cm for
hems. There is not seam allowance for the wings.
