EXPERIENCE
PK-12 Visual Art teacher Lititz Christian School 2014-current
• Teach all visual art classes pre-school through 12th grade (17 preps).
• Plan and facilitate developmentally appropriate art lessons that develop fine motor skills, teach foundational art principles and
nurture creativity.
• Introduced a robust currency reward system to encourage drawing and creative work outside school.
• All classes include elements and principles of art and design as well as art history. At the secondary level, classes include written
and oral critique, dedicated drawing time, art philosophy, reading and writing and a culminating art history test.
• Writing across the curriculum takes place in self-evaluations, critique, art history and art philosophy responses.
• Expanded the current ceramics program by partnering with local potters, mixing our own glazes, and increasing the number of
wheels to meet the needs of our students.
• Other responsibilities include managing the art budget, taking part in peer teaching evaluations, curating student artwork and
donating personal artwork for sale at the LC Spring Gala fundraiser, and planning and executing an end of year art show.
• Rock Climbing Club Founder Co-lead a club of 13-20 students at RecROC climbing gym one day each week March through May.
The program gives students who are not interested in team sports an athletic outlet that improves physical fitness and overall
wellness.
Secondary Visual Art teacher Intermountain Christian School 2006-2014
• Served as Head of the secondary Visual Art department and was responsible for its budget and curriculum development.
• Developed a comprehensive secondary art curriculum.
• Taught high school studio art electives (AP 2-D Studio Art, Drawing, Sculpture, Painting, Ceramics, Photography and Graphic
Design) classes focused on craftsmanship, composition, content and media exploration.
• Taught foundational art classes for 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grade. All classes strongly emphasized drawing and focused on the
elements & principles of design, art history, and art philosophy through a variety of projects and assignments.
• Rock Climbing Club Co-Founder Co-led a club of 13-20 students at a local rock climbing gym weekly November through February.
• Field Studies Trip Coordinator Organized logistics and co-led a yearly trip that focused on individual, group and spiritual goals.
The itinerary often included climbing, hiking, backpacking and service activities.

• Taught at a 5th grade science program in Sonoma County, CA. Science classes taught: Pond & Stream, Geology & Stream, Forest
Ecology, Forest Friends, and Initiatives. I led night hikes and campfire programs, as well as facilitated both high and low ropes
challenge courses.
• Adventure Program Developer I was part of the development team that created and piloted the California Costal Adventure
Program
• Ropes Coordinator I was responsible for training and updating staff on challenge course policies and procedures. I built and
repaired challenge course elements (zip lines, cable swings, etc.) as well as inspected, maintained and organized challenge course
safety equipment.
