ABOUT MEDIATION BOOT CAMP

The program will enable the participants to understand the legal framework governing
mediation, and the role of a counsel as a pro mediation lawyer. The workshop would be a
combination of theory and role-plays. The extensive simulations involving roles as clients,
and mediators, case studies, and an overall feedback will provide the participants with the
opportunity to have real-life application and development of their skills in consensual dispute
resolution. In today’s environment, the absence of effective negotiation is often the single
largest contributor to disputes and the lack of success. The Mediation Boot Camp also
focuses on effective communication and negotiation areas that are valuable for law students
in boosting their profiles, especially if their aiming for a career in consensual.

OBJECTIVES
 CIPRA aims at orientating the students of SLS-HYD about the concept of Mediation and
its growing importance in the field of law by conducting sessions headed by handpicked
professionals and experts qualified for this purpose.
 The Mediation Boot Camp aims at familiarizing the students with the skills required in
mediation and at enhancing their advocacy skills.
 The interactive sessions and mock mediation exercises will grant the students an
opportunity to gain a practical understanding of the concept of Mediation.
 This Boot Camp aims at providing the students with encouragement and support to learn
an innovative concept outside their classrooms.

OUTCOMES
 The students will be granted an opportunity to test their ability and skills in the field
of Mediation.
 They will be provided a platform to showcase their mediation and advocacy skills.
 They will attain a clearer understanding of the concept of Mediation through the
workshop. They will be given a chance to enhance their oratory skills and techniques
for the roles of a Mediator and a Client.
 The students will be encouraged to enhance and develop their skills in the mediation
process as a Client and as a Mediator.
PROFILE OF SPEAKERS
SAURABH RAMAN

Associate, Wadia Ghandy & Co., Mumbai

After securing B.A.LLB (Hons.) from Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya


National Law University, Lucknow as one of the Top 10 rank
holders, Saurabh Raman pursued LL.M. in Corporate and
Commercial Laws from NALSAR University of Law,
Hyderabad. While shaping his career in the field of law, Saurabh
Raman has interned at a variety of law firms based in New Delhi such as Amarchand &
Mangaldas, Suresh A Shroff & Co. and Rajani Singania & Partners. His article titled “Death
Penalty: Contemporary Issues” published in the book “Selected Essays on Death Penalty:
Contemporary Issues”. Owing to his interests in Dispute Resolution, Saurabh was the
runners-up in National Rounds of The Louis M. Brown and Forrest S. Mosten
International Client Consultation Competition held in Lloyd Law College, Noida in
February, 2013. Apart from his interests in Dispute Resolutions, Saurabh finds his interests
in Company Laws, Property Law, and Capital Markets.

Saurabh will be providing the students information on the concept of Mediation, its process
and its challenges.

PRANJAL KAMRA

The founder of Finology

Pranjal, the brains behind Finology (a Fin-tech Startup fostering


intelligent investing in the equity market), is a law graduate from
HNLU and is a certified investment Advisor from National
Institute of Securities Market. As a lawyer who has strengthened
his understanding of equity valuation, he provides consultancy to
BSE listed companies on matters related to M&A, SEBI & Stock
Exchange Compliances etc.

He will be engaging the students in an understanding of Corporate Negotiation and the role of
Mediation through his session in this Boot Camp.
R.S. PORNIMA

Assistant Associate at M/s. Fox Mandal, Chennai

Mrs. Pornima has completed her B.A.B.L. (Hons.) with distinction


from School of Excellence in Law, Chennai and pursed L.L.M. in
Intellectual Property Rights from Nalsar University of Law,
Hyderabad. While she was pursuing her law degree, she had interned
with reputed law firms in Chennai such as RSV Associates, NVS
MACS and L.R. Swami Co. In addition to this, she completed an
online internship with MHRD-IPR Chair at Indian Institute of Technology Madras.

Her notable achievements include securing the highest marks in the University Examinations
in Copyright and Trademarks in her academic pursuit at NALSAR, and being awarded the
Special Prize- ‘Speaker with a cause’ by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs in the
National Youth Parliament Competition held in 2006-07. Her work “DEATH PENALTY:
Just in Principle, Unjust in Practice” is published in ‘Selected essays on Death Penalty:
Contemporary Issues’. Having a strong footing in the field of IPR, Ms. Pornima will be
sharing her inputs on the concept of mediation with respect to dispute resolution scenarios
and IPR-related matters.

NISSHANT LAROIA

Accredited mediator from the Indian Institute of Corporate


Affairs (IICA)

The final year law student from GNLU is a certified mediator by


the Charles University in cross border dispute resolution and the
recipient of the Charles IV Scholarship at the Prague Summer
Mediation Academy (cross border disputes), Charles University.
Apart from being a part of the Local Organizing Committee at the
Global Pound Conference (GPC) India 2018 and the Convener of the GPC Knowledge Team,
he is also the Convener of the ADR Cell at his University. Adjudged the Best Mediator at the
2nd RMNLU Mediation Competition and the Best Mediator Runner Up at the Vis (East)
Hong Kong are some of his accomplishments. Not just that, Nisshant also coaches student
teams participating in ADR tournaments and takes capacity building sessions at other
National Law Universities in India. Through his sessions in the Boot Camp, Nisshant will be
engaging students in a practical understanding of Mediation and Negotiation.

Since the ideation of the Mediation Boot Camp, Nisshant has provided CIPRA with valuable
inputs. CIPRA is greatly indebted to Nisshant for his constant support in organizing this
initiative in Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad.

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR THE BOOT CAMP?

There are 200 seats available for the Mediation Boot Camp. The registration process will be
held in a ‘first-come-first-serve’ basis.

Registrations will begin on 22nd of August, 2017, through an online procedure, i.e. filling a
Google form.

The students participating in this Boot Camp will be awarded with a Certificate of
Participation by CIPRA.
