Philosophy of Education
I am strong in my beliefs that all children have the ability to learn and thrive in the educational setting. As an
educator, my role in the lives of my students is to provide a motivating and compassionate environment, one that engages
students to take educational risks and challenge their own individual learning.
I believe that in order to educate students of general ability and students with disabilities, an individual must be
empathetic, nurturing, and passionate in regards to his/her students. These strong qualities allow students to feel comfortable and
engaged about their individual learning experiences. When educators motivate students to feel positively in the classroom
setting, a unified community of intellectual growth is formed, an environment conducive to student growth.
A successful educator understands her students not only on an academic level, but on a personal level, as well. It is
the responsibility of the educator to discover each student’s individual profile (learning style, interests, abilities, and culture) and
incorporate it into the curriculum. Similar to educational reformer, John Dewey, I believe the classroom environment should be
student-centered and adapted to meet the students on an individual level. Understanding the beautiful diversity in a classroom
setting instills compassion, patience, and empathy in its students, qualities necessary to thrive in life.
I believe that successful educators are reflective practitioners. As students change and the world transforms, so
should an educator’s teaching practices. The curriculum must be adapted to the students it serves. Technology is a strong
example of this idea as today’s students are so technologically driven in contrast to the prior generation. Due to its great rise in
advances, technology in the classroom truly benefits the learning experience because it provides an environment that fits the
interests and styles of the students themselves. The students are able to use these advances to explore, experiment, and truly
grow as a learner and an individual. As a result, my present teaching practices incorporate technology, such as computers and
My passion for educating the lives of children has led me to form my ever-growing educational philosophy. I will
always remain strong in my belief that every child, regardless of academic ability or cultural background, is fully capable of
learning. Educators must embrace diversity and incorporate such differences into the classroom environment. I also firmly
believe that successful educators constantly reflect and amend their practices to fit the needs of their present students.
Throughout my future, I will adhere my educational philosophy in my teachings in order to provide my students with an
