Abstract

Background : Insomnia is one of the symptoms that appears when a woman


enters menopause period. Insomnia is a condition in which a person experiences a
difficulty falling and/or staying asleep or the inability of a person to get enough
sleep. A non-pharmacological therapy that can be used to decrease the level of
insomnia is lavender aromatherapy.

Aim : This study aimed to determine effect of lavender aromatherapy on the level
of insomnia of the menopousal women

Method : This study was a pre-experiment with one group pre-post test
design.The sample of this study was 32 patients using purposive sampling. The
data analysis used was Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test

Results : The results showed that there was an effect of lavender aromatherapy on
the level of insomnia. Based on the statistical test obtained p value = 0.000 (< α =
0,05). This indicates a statistically significant change in the level of insomnia of
the menopousal women after lavender aromatherapy intervention.
