EB - FREQUENCY LIST AND GPRS OBJECTS

HANDLING
With the commands of this command group you create, delete, modify, and output the
BCCH allocation frequency lists, mobile allocation frequency lists, DFCA (Dynamic Fre-
quency and Channel Allocation) mobile allocation frequency lists, and routing areas in
the BSS Radio Network Configuration Database (BSDATA).
BCCH allocation frequency lists are used in cell selection and reselection by mobile
stations in the idle mode and for handovers by active mobile stations.
Mobile allocation lists are used in BTSs with radio frequency hopping. The lists can be
attached to any BTS.
DFCA mobile allocation frequency lists are used in BTSs utilising any of the DFCA-
specific frequency hopping modes.
Routing areas are used in General Packet Radio Service (GPRS).

EB - Frequency List and GPRS Objects Handling EBC CREATE BCCH FREQUENCY LIST <option>

EBC CREATE BCCH FREQUENCY LIST

<option>
Function With the EBC command you create a BCCH frequency list in the BSDATA. The
command is optional.

Parameters identification of BCCH frequency list, type of BCCH frequency list: frequency;

Syntax EBC: <identification of BCCH frequency list>,

<type of BCCH frequency list> :

[ <frequency> ... ] ; <option>

Parameter explana- identification of BCCH frequency list

tions With this parameter you identify the BCCH frequency list you are creating. The identifi-
cation is a decimal number. The values range from 1 to 3000. The parameter is obliga-
tory.

type of BCCH frequency list

With this parameter you define the type of the BCCH frequency list you are creating. The
values are:
800 GSM 800 frequency band in use
900 GSM 900 frequency band in use
1800 GSM 1800 frequency band in use
1900 GSM 1900 frequency band in use
MULTI Multiband in use
The parameter is obligatory.

frequency
With this parameter you define the frequency to be added to the BCCH frequency list.
The values are:

MULTI
GSM 800 GSM 900 GSM 1800 GSM 1900 <option>
128 - 251 1 - 124, 512 - 885 512 - 810 1 - 124,
975 - 1023, 0 128 - 251,
512 - 810,
512 - 885,
975 - 1023, 0

GSM 900 consists of two frequency bands, Primary GSM and Extended GSM. The
value range of Primary GSM is 1 - 124. The value range of Extended GSM is 975 - 1023,
0.
MULTI consists of three frequency bands, dual band for GSM 900/GSM 1800, dual band
for GSM 800/GSM 1900, and dual band for GSM 800/GSM 1800. The value range of
dual band GSM 900/GSM 1800 is 1 - 124, 512 - 885, 975 - 1023, 0. The value range of
dual band GSM 800/GSM 1900 is 128 - 251, 512 - 810. The value range of dual band

DN9813169 Id:0900d805805a260b 9
Issue 17-0
EBC CREATE BCCH FREQUENCY LIST <option> EB - Frequency List and GPRS Objects Handling

GSM 800/GSM 1800 is 128 - 251, 512 - 885. The frequency range depends on the
active dual band.
The maximum number of frequencies in one BCCH frequency list is 32. If the Common
BCCH is used, the maximum is 31. If the option ISHO_SUPPORT_IN_BSC is ON, the
maximum is 31. If the TD-SCDMA INTERWORKING, IDLE MODE license state is ON,
the maximum is 31. If the Common BCCH and either the ISHO_SUPPORT_IN_BSC
option or TD-SCDMA INTERWORKING, IDLE MODE licence is used, the maximum is
30. You can enter multiple frequencies by using the grouping character &. The licence
affects the maximum number of frequencies only if the licence state is ON.
It must be noticed that these limits are valid in the radio network (RNW) database. Due
to tighter limitations in the system information messages depending on the used fre-
quency range also the 3GPP specification limits must be taken into account in the
network planning.

Examples 1. Create a BCCH frequency list whose identification is 128 and type is GSM 900.
ZEBC:128,900;
2. Create a BCCH frequency list whose identification is 20 and type is GSM 1800. Add
frequencies 515, 520, and 600 to that list.
ZEBC:20,1800:515&520&600;
3. Create a BCCH frequency list whose identification is 12 and type is 800. Add fre-
quencies 131, 136, and 215 to that list.
ZEBC:12,800:131&136&215;
4. Create a BCCH frequency list whose identification is 13 and type is MULTI. Add fre-
quencies 135 and 512 to that list when the GSM800_GSM1900_USAGE option is
used.
ZEBC:13,MULTI:135&512;
5. Create a BCCH frequency list whose identification is 14 and type is MULTI. Add fre-
quencies 140 and 885 to that list when the GSM800_GSM1800_USAGE option is
used.
ZEBC:14,MULTI:140&885;

EBE CREATE MOBILE ALLOCATION FREQUENCY EB - Frequency List and GPRS Objects Handling
LIST

EBE CREATE MOBILE ALLOCATION FRE-

QUENCY LIST
Function With the EBE command you create a mobile allocation frequency list or a DFCA mobile
allocation frequency list.

Parameters use of the frequency list, identification of mobile allocation frequency list, type of mobile
allocation frequency list: frequency, DFCA MA list usage <option>, DFCA MA list group
id <option>;

Syntax EBE: [ <use of the frequency list>, | MAL def ]

<identification of mobile allocation frequency list>,
<type of mobile allocation frequency list> :

[[ FREQ = <frequency> ... ]

[ DMAU = <DFCA MA list usage> <option> | CSPS def ]
[ DMAG = <DFCA MA list group id> <option> | 0 def ]] ... ;

Parameter explana- use of the frequency list

tions With this parameter you identify whether the frequency list in question is an MA fre-
quency list or a DFCA MA frequency list. The values are:

MAL mobile allocation frequency list

DMAL DFCA mobile allocation frequency list <option>

If you do not give this parameter, the value mobile allocation frequency list (MAL) is
used.

identification of mobile allocation frequency list

With this parameter you identify the MA frequency list or the DFCA MA frequency list
you are creating. The value range of an MA frequency list is from 1 to 3000. The value
range of a DFCA MA frequency list is from 1 to 32 when the application software
Dynamic Frequency and Channel Allocation is in use.
The parameter is obligatory.

type of mobile allocation frequency list

With this parameter you define the type of the mobile allocation frequency list you are
creating. The values are:
800 GSM 800 frequency band in use
900 GSM 900 frequency band in use
1800 GSM 1800 frequency band in use
1900 GSM 1900 frequency band in use
The parameter is obligatory.

128 - 251 1 - 124 512 - 885 512 - 810
975 - 1023, 0

GSM 900 consists of two frequency bands, Primary GSM and Extended GSM. The
value range of Primary GSM is 1 - 124 and the value range of Extended GSM is 975 -
1023, 0.
The maximum number of frequencies in one MA frequency list is 63. The maximum
number of frequencies in one DFCA MA frequency list is 32. The maximum number of
mobile allocation frequencies in one command is 32. You can enter multiple frequencies
by using the grouping character &.

DFCA MA list usage <option>

With this parameter you separately define the purpose for each DFCA MA list. Use can
be defined for CS, PS, or both. Default value is CSPS.

Parameter Value Explanation

DMAU = CS DFCA MA list is for CS use.
PS DFCA MA list is for PS use.
CSPS DFCA MA list is for both CS and PS use.

DFCA MA list group id <option>

DMAG = decimal number
With this parameter you define the group id of the DFCA MA list. The frequencies can
be reused on DFCA MA lists which are defined into different groups. This way different
sets of DFCA MA lists can be created for locations with different needs and which are
apart from each other, as frequency checks are performed only inside the DFCA MA list
group.
DFCA does not control interference between channels that are using DFCA MA lists that
belong to different DFCA MA list groups. It is the operator's responsibility to take care of
that in the radio network planning and configuring phase.
The value range is from 0 to 32. Default value is 0.

Examples 1. Create a mobile allocation frequency list whose identification is 128 and type is GSM
900.
ZEBE:MAL,128,900;
2. Create a mobile allocation frequency list whose identification is 200 and type is GSM

ZEBE:MAL,200,1800:FREQ=600&602&604&606;
3. Create a mobile allocation frequency list whose identification is 25 and type is GSM
800. Add the frequencies 130, 132, and 180 to the list.
ZEBE:MAL,25,800:FREQ=130&132&180;
4. Create a DFCA mobile allocation frequency list whose identification is 1, type is
GSM 800, and group id is 2. Add the frequencies 130, 132, and 180 to the list.

LIST

Changing the activity state of a DFCA MA frequency list from 'DFCA out of use' to 'DFCA
in use' requires that there are frequencies on the DFCA MA list (that is, the list is not
empty).
The activity state of the unused DFCA MA frequency list is automatically changed to
'DFCA out of use' after the list has been detached from every DFCA BTS.
The parameter is allowed only when you change the activity state of the DFCA MA fre-
quency list, but in that case the parameter is obligatory.
When you modify this parameter you cannot modify parameters DFCA MA list usage
(DMAU) or DFCA MA list group id (DMAG).

DFCA MA list usage <option>

With this parameter you separately define the purpose for each DFCA MA list. Use can
be defined for CS, PS, or both.

Parameter Value Explanation

DMAU = CS DFCA MA list is for CS use.
PS DFCA MA list is for PS use.
CSPS DFCA MA list is for both CS and PS use.

The value of of this parameter can be modified when the activity state of the DFCA MA
frequency list is 'DFCA out of use'. When you modify this parameter, you cannot modify
the parameter DFCA mobile allocation frequency list state (MALS).
