LIFTING, RIGGING & ERECTION SAFETY PLAN


Rigging for NORDSTROM

I. Purpose
1. Establishment of the procedures for lifting operations, and for the steel erection work beam,
columns, Frame, bracings at Nordstrom – San Juan, Puerto Rico.
II. Scope
1. Lifting and placing of structural steel elements using material handler.
III. Setup
1. The material will be moved using forklift up to be set below lifting.
2. The elements, will be raised tighten to material handler frame and holding up to the riggers
install two bolts (for beams) at each ends of piece.
3. The heavy element to be raised have 1,900 pound and material handler (JCB 550-170) max.
payload capacity is 10,000 pounds.
4. Materials will be received and guided to its proper location by a connector, and connected as
follows:
a. Columns - all anchor bolt nut placed over washers and hand tightened.
b. Beams or bracings - with a minimum of two (2) bolt assemblies per end, and hand tightened.
5. After installation has been completely slacked, connector will move to its location and free piece
from it.
6. Lifting material will be performed by SSW competent personnel (certified) using the material
handler before specified.

IV. Load Calculation:


Weight of critical element (1900 lbs) 1900 lbs
Capacity of Material handler to 18 ft 4000 lbs
offset (see JCB 550-170 Chart)
% cap = (1900/4000) x 100 47.5 %

V. Procedure
1. The steel element will be installed using the material handler before mentioned for lifting. All
piece shall be connected in two sides,
2. Unloaded materials will be located at Material Staging area prepared by CIC.
3. Materials will be raised to a safe height above the working area, form work, erected structural
steel, etc., from their respective location requires.
4. For moving steel a flagmen will stop personnel transit until load has been passed.
5. Once the material is at its approximate location, load and or Boom will be slowly lowered into
position to a safe pivoting height.
6. Materials will be received and guided to its proper location by a connector, and connected.
