Authority (NHA). The Project Cost is 913.468 million. The Construction project of “Baba
Faried Bridge over Sutlej River connecting with Pakpattan to Minchinabad and its overall
length is 8.750km including newly constructed of 0.572Km, 13 No’s spans long Bridge and
approach roads of 8.178Km. Directly responsible for overall construction supervision of the
contractor work progress, quality, cost, and safety Control. Organize meetings, and to
support the Site inspection staff with respect to interprets construction plans. Liaising with the
client (NHA) and project management team to provide resolutions, uprising from construction
works.

Project brief & relevant The Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has obtained a credit (No.
Assignments NDF-207/C-10/93) from the Nordic Development Fund (NDF), towards the cost of consulting
services for “Institutional Strengthening and Capacity Building in Transport Planning and
Management at Rural Road Authorities”. The Afar National Regional State is situated in the
north-eastern part of Ethiopia. The area of the region is about 100,860 km2 and the
population about 1.1 million. The region is one of the least developed regions in Ethiopia. It is
mainly semi-desert, dry and very hot, and actually, the area of Danakil Depression is said to
have the highest temperatures on the Earth. The Afar area is one of the most inhospitable
and harsh areas on the Earth. The regional Capital is in the process of shifting from Ayssaita
to Semera, which is located in the Addis Ababa – Assab main road. The total Project Cost is
about 15.9 million ETB in 2004. The capacity building at Afar Region for Afar Rural Road
Authority by the client Ethiopian Road Authority and Technical assistance in contracting,
monitoring, evaluation, programming, execution, sub-contracting, proper deployment of road
construction equipment and staff/ crews, arranging workshops, training, preparation of
modules and presentations, submissions of monthly progress reports. The wider range to
handling and manage the engineering functions on the projects, and integrated package
equipment suppliers.

Project brief & relevant Soqotra is a small archipelago of four islands in the Indian Ocean. The largest island also
Assignments called Socotra, is about 95% of the landmass of the archipelago. It lies some 240 kilometers
(150 mi) east of the Horn of Africa and 380 kilometers (240 mi) south of the Arabian
Peninsula. The island is very isolated and a third of its plant life is found nowhere else on the
planet. It has been described as "the most alien-looking place on Earth". The island
measures 132 kilometers (82 mi) in length and 49.7 kilometers (30.9 mi) in width. Socotra is
part of Yemen. The Government of the Republic of Yemen was started construction of
Socotra Island road network in three phases, financed by the Government of Yemen by GOY
investment under the Ministry of Public Works and Highways and international donors &
partners. Total Project Cost is about USD 8.23 million and its length is 430 km, which
includes Asphalt roads, approach roads, graveled roads, airport runway rehabilitation,
including construction of existing road rehabilitation, construction of causeways and about
100 numbers of stone masonry box culverts and causeways.

Project brief & relevant The project of Sukkur Bypass is implanted by National Highway Authority (NHA), Sukkur
Assignments Bypass is 11.30 km long four-lane divided controlled access road connecting N-5 with N-65.
The pavement consists of an aggregate base with asphaltic concrete. The major bridge is on
River Indus downstream of Sukkur Barrage with a length of 1.600 km. The bridge is founded
on 2 m Concrete piles with transom and superstructure consisting of 36 spans of 43 m
length, with six girders per span and transversely stressed deck slab. There are seven (7)
bridges on canals and one bridge over railway track from Sukkur to Shikarpur including
several underpasses. The construction cost of the project is $ 25.500 million, funded by
GOP/ADB. This project has been fully designed by A. A. Associates and vetted by COWI of
Denmark. The construction supervision has been provided in association with COWI.
