¿Cómo afecta la luna al comportamiento del ser humano?

Las fases de la luna se han relacionado con la locura humana, y abundan los mitos relacionados
con la influencia de la luna llena sobre el comportamiento, psicología y funcionamiento biológico
humano. La palabra “lunático” significa demente, y se deriva de la raíz latina “luna”. Durante
años, se han contado historias acerca de cómo incrementan las incidencias de crímenes
violentos, suicidio, admisiones en la sala de emergencias, y casos de ansiedad y depresión
durante una luna llena. Algunas personas afirman que el ciclo lunar también afecta los índices
de nacimiento, fertilidad, recuperación de cáncer, ataques, operaciones quirúrgicas. Numerosos
estudios han examinado posibles tendencias, y aunque pocos han encontrado posibles
relaciones, revisiones más prolongadas y exhaustivas no han descubierto relaciones causa-
efecto.

Está científicamente demostrado que la luna y sus distintas fases influyen sobre las mareas. El
poder de atracción que ejerce sobre el agua nos hace pensar que quizás afecte de igual manera
a cualquier ser vivo ya que el cuerpo humano está compuesto por un 70% de agua.

Pues a pesar de las estadísticas apuntan a que sí, esto no puede ser cierto porque la extensión
de agua que tenemos nuestros cuerpos hace que esa atracción sea muy muy pequeña,
microscópica. Para que exista una interacción entre un líquido y la luna, el volumen y masa del
líquido tiene que ser muy grande como por ejemplo los océanos, ni siquiera los lagos tienen un
tamaño suficiente.

Una posible explicación de que haya mayor número de crímenes cuando hay luna llena es que
la luna llena también provoca una mayor cantidad de luz y por lo tanto la actividad de las
personas en la calle aumenta, lo que también aumenta el número delincuentes.

of attraction that exerts on the water makes us think that perhaps it affects equally any living
being since the human body is composed of 70% water.

this can not be true because the extent of water we have our bodies makes that attraction is
very small, microscopic. For there to be an interaction between a liquid and the moon, the
volume and mass of the liquid must be very large, such as the oceans.

A possible explanation of the greater number of crimes when there is a full moon is that the full
moon also causes a greater amount of light and therefore the activity of people on the street
increases, which also increases the number of offenders.
