PREFACE

Knowledge attains maturity and perfection through application in the practical field. In the era of
fast changing environment, mere classroom teaching is not sufficient and futile until it is supported
by some exposure to practical detailing; keeping this in mind summer training has been made an
integral part of the management course.

I got an opportunity to undergo 45 days summer training at PMI, NTPC under the guidance of
MR. DMR PANDA, DGM where I got the practical experience of various aspects.

This area of study proved to be very relevant to my course curriculum. It helped me to get a
better perspective of the function of HR department and its mode of performance.

An attempt has made to carefully study and look into the subject and critically analyze it.
