1 INTRODUÇÃO
Esses princípios duplos, segundo Nadler & Tushman (2000), são hoje mais
relevantes do que nunca devido à complexidade das organizações
modernas. Atualmente, o grande desafio é administrar eficazmente diferentes
negócios que se sobrepõem – ou até mesmo concorrem entre si – dentro de
uma única empresa. Mais do que isso, as organizações terão a necessidade
Drucker (1999) afirma que, para lidar com esta atual complexidade, não
existe um único caminho ou uma estrutura organizacional correta. Para ele, a
organização não é um absoluto, mas uma ferramenta para tornar as pessoas
produtivas quando trabalham em conjunto e, como tal, uma estrutura
organizacional é adequada para determinadas tarefas em determinadas
condições e em determinadas épocas.

Ainda com relação a essa questão, Saetre (2001) identifica uma terceira
forma institucional, que se diferencia das duas primeiras – relacionadas pelo
autor com as formas mais conhecidas de empreendedorismo, na qual a fonte
de criação de novos produtos, serviços ou processos é o indivíduo
empreendedor – que é o empreendedorismo corporativo ou
intraempreendedorismo.

Abstract
The objective of this article is to discuss the
role of organizational structure in the
organization's technological innovation
process and to analyze, among the most used
structures, those that favor most innovation.
The article shows that different types of
innovation strategies request different types of
organizational structures. In order to get
adapted to the constant changes of the
external environment, the companies need to
adopt more flexible and adaptive structures,
which enable them to an effective
