This thesis presents the design of hybrid solar wind turbine system for the power
generation system by utilizing both solar and wind renewable energy to the domestic
household in the remote area which is unable to connect to the grid. A grid-connected
smart inverter can be the solution to both situations. In this dissertation, an inverter with
the ability to generate controllable reactive power during the DC/AC converting process
is introduced, which is quite useful in voltage regulation as well as for maintaining
desired power factor. It also monitors the operation status of the connected PV, sending
data to control center in order to help with the management of distribution. A 250W
regulated power is also given to the load. We control this voltage and power rating
through control circuit and Arduino by installing a Code in it. The research includes the
development of an accurate software model of the PV inverter system, and the model
validation based on both the simulation results and the lab measurements. Field tests are
also designed in order to validate smart inverter’s autonomous functionalities.
Investigation on improvement of power-interfacing control and optimization of overall
system operation assent to intend usage recommendation in this exposition. Computer
simulations and experiment results show the validity of this proposed system to have high
power conversion efficiency and low harmonic distortions.

CHAPTER 1

Introduction
In the initial stage of power energy system development, the electricity is supplied to the
users in a type of bulk electric transmission system. Due to the technology of power
system is improved, the traditional type of power system operating pattern seems to occur
some weak points in the field of flexibleness and securities. Besides that, fossil fuel price
is fluctuating due to the global economic and limited resource, it found that producing
electricity with conventional fossil fuel will lead to the environment pollution. In order to
overcome all these issues, the hybrid solar wind turbine system based on renewable
energy such as solar and wind is taken into account as the alternative method to produce
and supply electricity power energy to the users. Renewable energy sources are those
energy sources which are abundantly available in nature. A hybrid energy system is
defined as the component combination of two or more types of power generation system.
For this research, solar energy system is integrated with wind turbine system to form a
hybrid renewable energy system. Since the power output of these renewable energy is
ultimately depends on climatic conditions such as temperature, solar irradiance, wind
speed and etc., the instability of the system output is compensated by adding a suitable
energy storage system to the hybrid energy system. The power autonomy is greatly relied
on the perfect balance exist between power demand and generated power. Various new
control strategies are used for improving power quality and reliability obtained from
renewable energy sources. Power electronics technology works drastic role in small
generation and for integrating non-conventional energy sources to grid. Recently solar,
wind power generation has attracted special interest, the rapid growth of wind power
worldwide has resulted in increasing media attention and public awareness of wind
generation technology. The conventional energy sources are being depleted day by day
and the cost of required fuel is increasing rapidly. PV output is dc and then converted to
ac by inverter. By approaching new strategy for multilevel inverter for reducing harmonic
reduction. Multilevel inverter are recently used for harmonic reduction. Solar hybrids
include solar-wind-systems. The combination of wind and solar has the advantage that

1
the two sources complement each other because the peak operating times for each system
occur at different times of the day and year. The power generation of such a hybrid
system is more constant.
1.1 Statement of the Problem

With rise of population, there is an increasing demand for energy, which in turn results in
continuous rise on the price of fossil sources. In fact, it is expected in the near future, that
the demand for energy will grow faster than the finding out of new available fossil fuels.
There is a need for finding an alternative source of energy. Out of these renewable
energetic sources, the international scientific community has devoted intense efforts to
wind, solar photovoltaic and biomass. In this project, the wind and solar energy
generation is directly provided to load by technicaly. The solar energy is stabilized
through a solar charge controller which is pure DC. It is given to inverter to convert it in
pure AC. A control circuit board is on the way to monitor voltages and current to be given
to load.
Regulated required wattage must be given to load according to hardware designing. If
power production from the renewable sources are lesser then the requirement WAPDA
will be help to fulfill it. Effectively usage of energy from solar and wind sources are
perfectly done through this project.
The areas where load shedding creates problems in daily activities of people, solar and
wind energy are helpful for them. It is the Reducer of energy crises and burden on
national grid stations
1.1.1 Aim

This research is aiming to design the model of hybrid solar wind turbine in single setup and
then investigate the feasibility of the hybrid solar vertical wind turbine system, energy output
and storage.
