Rafael
Ariola, Principal of Botilao Elementary School, School Heads from the different
elementary schools in the district, honored guest, visitors, teachers, parents, fellow
graduating pupils, friends…
From the start that I went to school, I always dreamed of being the best. So, I
strived hard to be on top of the class, and succeeded to what I dreamed of. In
times of my struggles… I never lose hope… rather I was inspired to always do
better… and this how I managed to be on top of the graduating class.
Our graduation today is the first of the series of accomplishments that we will
surely achieve with the guidance of our parents and teachers. Everything in this
world has a beginning. In our case, we have just accomplished the beginning.
We have started the first right move. Hence, there is no reason why we should fail
in our future undertakings. And again… these are because of the people
surround and behind us…. our parents… siblings… teachers… friends… and
classmates… and all our support groups.. this speech will never be done without
saying Thank You to All of you.
But unlike the traditional honor speech… my task is to give you a farewell speech.
I made an effort to research different words for goodbye or farewell in countries
which we are familiar with… just to give a little touch to theme about Unity in
Diversity not to mention the quality of education for all.
Adios (in Spanish language)… but not really farewell… because we will still be
coming back… This is the line first comes in mind.. Farewell to my Dear Alma
Mater… for the six years of tenure in your school… we had learned many things…
our alphabet… the reading… the writing… the mathematics… Science… and
sports… and a lot more things that your teachers shared and imparted with us
each day. All the learnings and experiences are worthy of remembering and
keeping…
Just like the different languages I used for farewell… this could never been
understood without having used a common language… the word Farewell (in
English). Relating to the theme… despite the differences if there is commonality…
there will be unity… likewise… relating to the theme… it tells us that we Filipinos
should have one common goal to achieve the competence of the K to 12
curriculum.
Before I end…let me reiterate… Adios… Sayonora… Anneyeong… farewell…
paalam… these different languages are always associated with words Gracias…
Arigatōgozaimashita, gomabseubnida… thank you… salamat po sa inyong
pakikinig….
Mabuhay tayong lahat!
