Materials
Yarn:
1 skein Universal Yarn Inc. Pace [75% superwash wool/25% polyamide;
220 yards/200 meters; 1.76 ounces/50 grams; fingering weight], color #03 steel.

1 skein Universal Yarn Inc. Pace [75% superwash wool/25% polyamide;

220 yards/200 meters; 1.76 ounces/50 grams; fingering weight], color #02 grey.

One rosette crocheted in Universal Yarn Inc. Pace uses approximately

5 grams of yarn.

Substitute any fingering weight yarn for a rosette of similar size to the sample

shown.
Crochet Hook:

US F/4mm hook

Extras:
34 size “6” seed beads to match yarn color 2
8 size “6” seed beads to match yarn color 1

Gauge is not critical for this piece.

Finished Measurements:
Sample rosette measures 2.25” diameter

Rosette Instructions
Using color 1, ch 13 loosely.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, 2 sc in each following ch to end -- 23 sc.

Row 2: Ch 1, *2 sc in each st to end -- 46 sc.

Fasten off yarn color 1.

String 34 beads onto yarn color 2.

Row 3: Using color 2, ch 2, hdc in first st, 2 hdc in next st, *hdc in next st,
2 hdc in next st; repeat from * to end -- 69 sts
Row 4: Ch 1, sl st in 1st st, *sl st with bead in next st, sl st in next st; repeat from * to end –
69 sl sts/34 with beads.
Fasten off yarn.
Finishing
You may notice your crocheted piece is beginning to curl in on itself. Following this natural curl,
spiral work to form the rosette shape. Secure into this shape by sewing through sts in color 1 only
on the back of the flower.
Sew the 8 beads that match yarn color 1 to center of rosette.
Weave in all yarn ends.
Rosette can now be fastened to pins, magnets, hair barrettes, or project of your choosing.

Chain 5. Join to form a ring.

Round 1: Ch 1, 5 sc in ring. Join.

Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around. Join.

Round 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around. (20 sc) Join.

Round 4: Working in front loops of sc's only (back look will be used for second row of petals), *ch 3, 1 tr in same st, 2 tr in each of next 2 sts, 1 tr in
next st, ch 3, sl st in same st (1st petal of first row). Sl st in next st. Repeat from * 4 times.

Round 5: Sl st over to back sc loop in center of first petal. *Ch 4, 1 dtr in same st, 2 dtr in each of next 2 sts, 1 dtr in next st, ch 4, sl st in same st (1st
petal of second row). Sl st in next st. Repeat from * 4 times. Join and fasten off.

Materials: (US) size 7 steel hook, size 10 cotton thread for main color, 6 inch piece of contrasting color size 10 cotton thread for body (or use main color), 2 stitch markers,
fabric stiffener (optional)

Finished Size: 2.5 inches x 1.5 inches at widest points

Special Stitches:
Picot: ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook
Double Treble (dtr): yo 3 times, insert hook in designated st, yo, draw up loop, (yo, draw through 2 loops on hook) 4 times

Finishing:

1. Fold the piece in half making sure the fold is between the 2 sets of upper wings. (see Fig. 1)

2. Fold 6 inch piece of thread in half and tie a knot approximately 5/8 inch from the fold. (see Fig. 2)

3. Making sure not to twist the loop, place the folded piece around the center of the body and pull knot through the loop. (see Fig. 3)

4. Stiffen as desired. *Butterfly will stand as shown in Fig. 4 without stiffening.
