Executive Summary
New better managed technology which has been neglected will allow Waterbury Symphony
Orchestra to better deliver on its Mission.

1. Introduction
Narrative
Waterbury Symphony Orchestra is a 501(c) 3 organization based in Waterbury Connecticut.
WSO's mission is to improve the quality of life for the people of Northwest Connecticut through
high quality orchestral performances and experiential music education programs involving public
and private schools in the region. WSO’s El Sistema-inspired Bravo Waterbury! program brings
tuition-free music education, performance opportunities, and a critical sense of autonomy to
Waterbury's underserved youth.
Mission
To improve the quality of life for the people of Northwest Connecticut through high quality
orchestral performances and experiential music education programs.

Infrastructure
Current status of your technology
Current technology is 3 laptops and one desktop all running Windows 7, they are approximately
5 years old. Internet access consists of an antiquated modem/router. Although there is a shared
drive it is clumsy and inefficient. There is no server where documents can be easily stored,
accessed and shared. Backup is inefficient and there is no off site storage of backups.
QuickBooks is the Accounting system, stored on Cloud.
Bizland is the Web host
Changes / upgrades
Replace 2 laptops, one desktop, make a true “Network” using the desktop as the server,
Automate backup and storage in art least two locations
Install power supplies or surge protectors for protection from power outages/surges.

Technical Support
Current status of your technology
Hardware and local software is installed and support by internal staff.
Changes / upgrades
Update hardware and software for better reliability.
Automate the installation of patches, fixes, anti-virus signatures and drivers, minimizing the
amount of personnel time spent on technology so the time can be better used

Training
Current status of your technology
Vendor training classes, particularly PatronManager are available. Little staff, little turnover.
Changes / upgrades
Have a PatronManager Specialist train staff to use PatronManager more effectively.

Data Management
Current status of your technology
PatronManager CRM, combines all the things you need to run your organization: ticketing,
subscriptions, fundraising, and email marketing, with all the power of Salesforce.com CRM.
Stored on the Cloud.
Changes / upgrades
The basic system will be retained, more useful reports that appear on a dashboard for the
Executive Director will be developed by the Production Manager / Office Manager.

3 Lenovo Yoga 3 14-inch computer $6000

Summary: A 14-inch convertible laptop tested with Windows 8.1, an Intel Core i5-5200U 2.2GHz
processor, 4GB of memory, Intel HD Graphics 5500 graphics, a touchscreen, and a 128GB
solid-state drive.

Long battery life distinguishes this convertible laptop. The screen folds 360 degrees into tablet,
stand, presentation, or laptop mode. It includes Lenovo's VeriFace facial-recognition software,
as well as Lenovo Motion Control for hand-gesture recognition and dragon Assistant voice-
control software. It's got a smooth feel when you draw quick circles and lines. Auto-rotation
does not work while the device is in laptop mode.

graphics, a DVD burner, and no speakers.

A 28-inch 16:9 aspect-ratio LCD computer monitor from Philips, with integrated speakers, a
headphone jack, 4 USB ports, VGA input, DVI input, HDMI input, DisplayPort input, a display
that rotates between landscape and portrait and adjustable height.
