EEX-203 Electrical Measurement and Measuring Instruments [3 0 0 3]

Course Outcome:
At the end of the course student will have ability to
1. To use the techniques and skills for electrical projects.
2. Design a system, component or process to meet desired needs in electrical
engineering.
3. Measurement of R,L,C ,Voltage, Current, Power factor , Power, Energy
4. Ability to balance Bridges to find unknown values.
5. Ability to measure frequency, phase with Oscilloscope
6. Ability to use Digital voltmeters
7. Ability to measure strain, displacement, Velocity, Angular Velocity, temperature,
Pressure, Vacuum, and Flow

EEX-201 Circuit Theory [3 1 0 4]

Course Outcome:
At the end of the course student will have ability to
1. Match concepts in trigonometry, complex algebra, and matrix algebra to utilize
techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for electrical engineering
practices.
2. Select proper network reduction techniques, circuital laws and theorems for magnetic
/ electric circuit solution considering economic, performance, efficiency and availability
constraints.
3. Estimate parameters for different types of attenuators and filters used in signal
modulation for power systems and communication systems.
4. Analyze circuits and systems by their standard parameters to identify their
characteristics in general form, applicable for generation, transmission and distribution
considering economical, ethical and practical limitation.
5. Develop various methodology/strategies through various domain of analysis to
evaluate performance characteristics of electrical networks and analyse their operation
under different operating conditions for various electrical/electromagnetic systems.
6. Apply computer mathematical and simulation programs to solve various real life multi‐
disciplinary topics through circuit solution.
EEX-202 EMF Theory [3 1 0 4]

Course Outcome:
At the end of the course student will have ability to
1. Define and recognize different co‐ordinate systems to describe the spatial variations of
the physical quantities dealt in electromagnetic field theory as they are functions of
space and time.
2. Apply different techniques of vector calculus to understand different concepts of
electromagnetic field theory.
3. Explain fundamental laws governing electromagnetic fields and evaluate the physical
quantities of electromagnetic fields (Field intensity, Flux density etc.) in different media
using the fundamental laws.
4. Determine the electromagnetic force exerted on charged particles, current elements,
working principle of various electric and electromagnetic energy conversion devices
are based on this force.
5. Design electromagnetic energy storage devices like capacitor, inductor which are
frequently used in electrical systems and choose suitable materials required to
assemble such electromagnetic energy storage devices.
6. Deduce and justify the concepts of electromagnetic waves, means of transporting
energy or information, in the form of radio waves, TV signals, radar beams and light
rays.
7. Generalize the concepts of guided structures like transmission line, means of
transporting energy or information, commonly used in power distribution and
communication.

EEX-204 Electrical Machines I [3 1 0 4]


Course Outcome:
At the end of the course student will have ability to
1. Determine the performance of a single-phase transformer by conducting Open Circuit
(O.C) and Short Circuit (SC) tests and Sumpner’s test.
2. Understand 3-phase to 2-phase transformation using the Scott connection and determine
the different losses of the transformers.
3. Determine the performance characteristics of DC shunt and DC compound generators by
conducting load tests.
4. Implement the speed control techniques for a separately excited DC motor
5. Determine the performance characteristics of DC machine by conducting direct and
indirect tests
