1.0 Introduction
This excavation plan outline the methodology use to ensure potential hazard for
excavation works at KP181+900 can be control.
Excavation for installation of 2-layer precast concrete blocks with maximum depth of
1.5m
Trimming/Lay for installation of gabion mattress and 1-layer precast concrete block
Before performing the excavation works, peg out 2.5m right hand side (RHS) and
left hand side (LHS) from centerline of gas pipeline and marked with warning tape.
(Note: Excavation works within 5m of pipeline area shall only be carried out after
verification and approval by PMT and PGB representatives).
Apart from the boundary of both 2.5m left and right side from centerline of gas
pipeline, the excavation works could proceed as per construction drawing
Prior to excavation works, GTS shall carry out site assessment to classify soil,
inspecting proactive systems and designing excavation method (sloping, benching,
shoring etc.) and recorded in Geotechnical-Geohazard Data Capture Proforma form
RA and Work Leader shall assess surrounding/inspect and evaluate site condition
using Excavation and Trenching/Pit Checklist form to make sure it is safe prior to
4 Excavation Plan for KP181+900
Note: For hot work permit, PGB shall be notify 7 days earlier for any excavation within
2.5m LHS & RHS from centerline of pipeline for approval.
For the area which required two (2) layers of concrete blocks to be install, excavate
the existing ground about 3 meter width and less than 1.5 meter depth for the
concrete blocks platform which including the cobblestone thickness and concrete
blocks height as shown in figure 1.
Excavation slope wall angle shall be 1 V: 1.5 H (34°) based on PTS 18.52.18 or more
depends on soil condition for original soil and for fill embankment shall be more
than 34°.
5 Excavation Plan for KP181+900
For other areas which only have one (1) layer of blocks, the depth and width of the
excavation shall be 1.25 meter and 2 meter consecutively. Use these references as an
indicator for block’s excavation.
Excavation width = Concrete blocks width + 500mm both side for workspace
All excavated spoil shall be placed more than 1m away from the trench. Minimize
the movement of excavator near the trench while workers working inside the trench
All other personnel that not involved in excavation activities shall stay away from
excavation area
Perform trench excavation and preparation for the formation level of the drain.
6 Excavation Plan for KP181+900
The dimension of the trench shall be larger than the size of the R.C. drain as per
construction drawing so that workers will have enough work space for formwork
erection.
For R.C. U-Drain installation works, open up the trench size about 2 meter width for
the workspace and maximum of 1.25 meter depth which including lean concrete
thickness, slab base thickness and walls height.
Excavation slope wall shall be as per PTS 18.52.18. Any running water from upper
slope shall be diverted by constructing temporary earth drain, if necessary.
Excavation depth = lean concrete thickness + base slab thickness + walls height
Excavation width = Drain width + 500mm both side for workspace
All excavated spoil shall be placed more than 1m away from the trench. Minimize
the movement of excavator near the trench while workers working inside the trench
