S: If we’re all here, let’s get started.
S: Today, we’re about to discuss the Rates of
Compensation of engaged in various capacities.
S: As you all know, you are deeply concerned
with the matter. The Philippine Institute of Civil
Engineers, also known as PICE, regularly
updates the schedule of fees and the amount
however…
S: Certain principles must be followed…
S: Now, Engr. Canlas, what are these principles
that should be observed...?
R: To summarize the main points of the
document and the Annexes attached to it.
There are three principles needed to be
observed…
R: First is, when doing work on foreign assisted
projects, or in projects where international
consultants are involved, the Civil Engineer
performing similar or equivalent work, should
accept compensation that approximates the
international standard rates…
R: The second principle is that Civil Engineers
sector shall have a minimum compensation
corresponding to 10% more than the minimum
wage prevailing in the region as basic monthly
salary. It corresponds to appropriate entry
positions provided by the Civil Service
Commission.
R: And lastly, the third principle needed to be
considered, is that Civil Engineers that was
employed in a private sector who signs and
seals the Civil Engineering plans, specification
and other related documents of a certain
project for and in behalf of his employers, shall
be compensated 10% of the professional fee for
the project, over and above the basic monthly
salary.
S: Thank you Engr. Canlas. As you’ve all heard,
these rates are viable to the engineering
economy and we’re the basic fees that these
Civil Engineers deserved. These of course,
excludes bonuses, benefits or perks. Any
adjustments that would cause changed shall be
updated regularly.
S: This is an important matter, knowing that
Civil Engineers must be properly compensated
for their hard work and experience in the field
of engineering. With that in mind, I expect you
all to keep in mind what we’ve discussed today.
