1. INTRODUCTION

MTIT students are required to undergo Project work in 4th Semester. This project is
basically meant for the implementation of the various technologies in the real life
scenario. The project would impart practical exposure to all the students. The students
will be doing projects relating to the different specialization areas as discussed further.
2. PROCEDURE
2.1 The students are expected to make personal efforts to arrange for their project
supervisor (External guide).

2.2 The students can do project for any Organization which are directly dealing with
the IT/Computer Industry. A letter from the Organizational head or certificate of having
completed the Project in the organization is essential

2.3 Students must submit the synopsis of the project before the completion of
3rd semester. No project will be accepted if synopsis is not submitted before the end of
3rd semester.
3. TYPES OF ORGANIZATIONS
Students can opt for the following type of institutes / organizations for their industrial
training.

• IT Companies.
• Manufacturing organization (In EDP or IT section).
• Service Provider having proper IT setup.
• University Campus Centre(Research and Development Department)

4. FIELDS FOR PROJECTS


Following is the list of fields under which projects can be undertaken. Students are
required to select one or more projects from the category listed below and get it approved
from their concerned faculty advisor.

• Database projects.

• Programming based Network projects (e.g. implementing Routing


protocols)
• Middleware projects
• System Programming based projects.
• Artificial Intelligence/expert system based projects.
• Embedded software.
• Mainframe based projects.
• Telephony based projects.
• Simulators.
• Research Based projects
5. EVALUATION OF PROJECT
The project done during the training will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

The description about various criterions are as follow:

5.1 Project Report and Documentation: (200 Marks)


The following is the format to be followed for preparation of your project report. You may
add to, modify or omit some of the below mentioned points depending upon their
relevance to your project except the outer and inner cover which is mandatory
requirement of PTU.
The Project report and documentation shall be asserted on the following parameters:
1. Lucidity of the language
2. Quality of Presentation and Content
3. Thoroughness of the review of the subject
4. Contribution of the project to creation of new knowledge
5. Innovativeness

Every section shall be of 40 marks each


Project Report Format
- Title Cover (outer and inner cover as Specified by PTU –Compulsory)
- Certificate from your guide about the submission of work done under his/her guidance.
- Table of Contents, abstract of the project (abstract of actual work done)

These reports are to be properly catalogued. Students will submit two (2) copies of the Final
Project Report.

A software copy of executable file of the project (on CD only) should also be submitted along
with project report.
5.2 Presentations and Demonstration (100 marks)
At the end of the semester, students are required to present the project details and
demonstrate the working of project done, during the training period in front of the panel.
The panel will appointed by university. Students should use LCD for Presentation and
demonstration. The roll no. wise date sheet will be displayed later on.

Rules for presentation

• Students should use LCD for Presentation and Demonstration.

• The presentation should not be paper reading and duration of the project will be of
30 minutes to 1 hr for each presentation.
• Incase of Group presentation, every student from that group will be speaking on a
separate concept of the project.

Presentation Evaluation Details:

The presentation/demonstration given by student will be evaluated according to the


following criteria:

* Understanding about project of the student’s can be accessed and evaluated by
checking whether he/she is able to convince the layman and professional about the project
which he/she has actually developed. It includes the following parameters:
What is the project? What it meant for? How it works? How to use the project?
** Thoroughness in Skill set of students means whether he/she has through knowledge
of the skill sets used in developing his/her project.
5.3 External Viva (100 marks)
An external Viva will be conducted by an external examiner on the project(s) done during
industrial training. The viva will be held on one day for all the students during the regular
final examinations in the college. The exact date will be notified later on. The examiners
of the viva shall be approved by the university
