The majority of participants were local workers or local
residents. Of 201 respondents, 16 had multiple links to
the area e.g. they both work and live locally.
Participants were also asked about their main reasons
for using the Gardens on that day. Given the proximity
to busy commuter routes and sites of interest, a high
number of people were expected to be using the
Gardens as a thoroughfare – the survey found that
just over half of all respondents were passing through
rather than visiting it as a destination.

• The peacefulness of the south gardens • Keep it for the local community (south)
• Quiet, south gardens • Area close to the road with 3 open gates makes
it dangerous for kids - I would improve with two
• South - relaxing and nicely developed gates that could close and be opened by adults
• I enjoy the community feel (veggie patches etc) and • The last thing I would want to see especially in
the different areas to sit the south garden, is green space sacrificed for
• The south part ‘games’ areas or food/drink facilities
• South side is better maintained • Keep the southern bit quiet
• I spend most time in the south garden and think it is
very well maintained. The grass and borders are well
tended and there is a nice variety of planting
• Uneven surface, grass for children to run safely
