Course Description
One of the very important standards which deal with the
Rotor repair is the API 687. The course will target how to
implement the standards in a proper way and the obeyed
procedures.
Course Objectives
This course covers the minimum requirements for the
inspection and repair of rotating equipment rotors, bear-
ings, and couplings used in the petroleum, chemical and
gas industry services.
Who Should Attend?
The course is ideally suited for Maintenance Engineers,
Service Engineers, Rotating equipment engineers, reli-
ability engineers, millwrights, mechanics, maintenance
supervisors and anyone interested in rolling element
bearing and rotating equipment performance will find it
useful.

n Inspection, repair and manufacturing of used and new
rotors for centrifugal, axial and screw type compres-
sors, steam turbines, gearing, and hot gas expanders
n Inspection, repair and manufacturing of used of new
fluid film bearings, and couplings
n Inspection, repair and manufacturing of used and new
special purpose gearing
n Pre-shutdown planning
n Section of a repair shop
n Nondestructive inspection techniques
n Guidelines for acceptance of various inspections;
Straightening shafts
n Material designations and specification, their meanings
and affects of alloying elements
n Balancing and stacking of rotating elements for centrif-
ugal and axial compressors, gearing, hot gas expand-
ers and steam turbines
n When to high speed balance and acceptance criteria;
n Techniques used to document coupling shaft fit
n Steam turbine, hot gas expander and axial compressor
blading inspections, manufacturing steps and inspec-
tion requirements of new and repaired blading, and as-
sembly on the rotor
n Procedures for shaft repairs such as welding, under-
cutting

a Mechanical Engineer at “Turbine Maintenance Division” and
responsible for four stations and Power House the four stations
consists of:
n Seven Units Man Turbo Gas Turbines Driving Two Delaval
Stork and Five Thermodyn Gas Compressors.
n Two Units Nuovo Pignone Gas Turbine MS5002 ( FRAM 3-
MARK II) Driving Two Delaval Stork Gas Compressors.
n Four Units Ruston Gas Turbines (TB-5000) Driving Four Gen-
erator (Power Station).
n Five Units Ruston Gas Turbines (TB-5400) Driving Five Dela-
val Stork Gas Compressors.
n Seven Solar Gas Turbines Driving Elliott Gas Compressors.
Four Unit Turboexpander (Rotoflow-Elliot).
n Preparing the Preventive Maintenance Schedules for Com-
pressors, Turbines and Turbo Expanders.
n Performing all kinds of corrective maintenance troubleshoot-
n ing “ Mechanical, Electrical & Instrument”
n Performing the Preventive Maintenance Schedules for Com-
pressors, Turbines and Turbo Expanders.
n Performing the Mechanical major overhauls of turbo expanders.
n For Turbines Major Overhauls: Combustion System Inspec-
tion Hot Gas Bath Inspection extended to first stage nozzle
and rotor blades inspection, crack and dye penetrant tests,
reblading, bearings and labyrinths inspection, performance
and reliability tests after running the turbines.
n For Compressors Major Overhauls: Complete Disassembly
for Compressors Bundles checking the diaphragms. Seals,
Rotor, Bearings, Labyrinths, Oil Guards, Mechanical Seals.
Adjusted the turbine and compressor leveling & alignment
(Laser & Dial Indicator).
n Performing all calibrations for turbines (Cards, Governor
Modules, Controllers and Switches).
Witnessed the factory acceptance test of solar gas turbine at
Solar Facilities in USA.
