1) GENERAL
For all the joints realized at site during the erection must be checked if there are
gas leakages.
The inspection should be carried out BT a 24 hours shift in order to reduce at
minimum the time required taking into consideration the high number of joints.
Jointly could be agreed to check joints with a random mode in order to reduce the
time required according to the vendor’s practice experience.
2) INSTRUMENT REQUIRED
- Vacuum pump
- Test equipment (probe and gauge).
3) ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA
- remove the set screw locking the ball seal from the hole for leak test.
- connect the test equipment
- open the connecting valve
- let the vacuum pump run for 15 minutes
- close the connecting valve, wait 15 minutes to allow the vacuum gauge to stabilize
and make a note of the vacuum degree existing in the chamber between the O-
rings.
- after 15 minutes take a new reading of the vacuum gauge.
5) CONCLUSIONS
The forms RV04 must be filled up for each bay. See form attached.

1 GENERAL
Scope of the test is to ascertain the good condition of insulation of all the phases
and the related ducts. Each test will be carried out for each phase and ground. It
is often convenient to divide the whole installation of GIS in sections for the
following reasons:
- for limiting the load capacitive of the testing equipment
- to limit the discharge energy if disruptive discharge occurs
- in case of disruptive discharge the location of the fault will be facilitated
The sections not involved in the test must be disconnected shorted and grounded.
IMPORTANT NOTE :
If one section will be dismantled during high voltage test the test must be repeated only
for the section involved. For potential transformers the above test will change as per the
test procedure that will be described hereafter being the P.T. disconnected.
2 INSTRUMENT REQUIRED
3 ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA
The switchgear shall be passed successfully the test if each section has withstood
the specified test voltage without any disruptive discharge for 1 minute.
4 PRECAUTIONS
Substation area during the test must be completely segregate by a boundary. All
the gates must be closed. Warning posts must be installed along the boundary.
Only the personnel involved in the test can enter the substation. The safety
distance must be more than ............ meter. The over head lines connection to the
bushing must be removed. All the grounding nets must be checked as per
drawing before the H.V. Test.

1 Check that the wiring is done as per drawing (terminal boards and connector amphenol).
2 Check of the correspondence with drawings of the tags to be fixed on the cables.
3 Check that the pins (male and female) are properly locked into the amphenols plug. The
check will be performed by pushing with fingers the pins to ascertain that they are well
fixed.
4 Check that the amperometric and voltmetric circuits are properly tight (pulling the wire) and
inspect visually core by core the C/T and P/T grounding connections.
5 Install on all the plugs the mechanical code (if any) to avoid mismatch of plugs during
maintenance.
6 Carry out with plug disconnected (see procedure N.6 GIS) the insulation strength of wires of
connectors, all other equipment, as C/T and P/T cables, motor, limit switches, etc.; will
be checked with 500 VDC.
P.S. All the item which have mentioned follow the international standard IEC 517 7.107.2
a) c).
A good method to check the C/T ratios, the polarity (P1 P2 ------ > S1 S2) and the groups
of the interposing C/Ts differential protections is to inject a suitable three phase and
symmetrical 3 pH system into bus bar.
