1. Communication in Mathematics is an importants pillar in teaching and learning


Mathematics in primary schools.
As a teacher, Mr Ali intends to educate Year Two pupils to introduce multiplication as
repeated addition.

a Assist Mr Ali in explaining to the Year Two pupils with suitable examples that
multiplication can also be known as repeated addition.

b The drastic development in technology is one of the factors that influences


the development of Mathematics curriculum in Malaysia.
Explain two influences of technology towards the development of the
Mathematics curriculum in Malaysia.

2 The Kurikulum Bersepadu Sekolah Rendah (KBSR) was implemented from 1983
until 2010. This was followed by a new transformation in the curriculum known as
Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Rendah (KSSR) since 2011 until present.

a Specifically clarify the difference between KSSR compared to KBSR in terms


of the objective, pedagogy, Mathematics reality and focus.

b One of the KSSR Mathematics objectives is to enable pupils to think, to


reason and to explore mathematically in daily life.

Explain, with three relevant examples, how the objective can be achieved in
the Mathematics classroom.

3 High Order Thinking (HOTS) has been defined as having the ability to apply
knowledge, skills and values in reasoning and problems solving, decision making,
innovating and creating.
These will enhance students curiosity in learning, which in turn will encourage
mastering and making connection in various knowledge through cognitive skills like
creative and innovative thinking.

Thus, teachers should strive to integrate HOTS in their teaching and learning.

a Describe two steps ways that Mathematics teachers can take in preparing
themselves to be able to plan and intergrate HOTS in their teaching and
learning as expected by KPM.

b Elaborate on three activities which can enhance HOTS in the Mathematics


classroom.

Answer one question

1. The design of KSSR Mathematics was developed in order to produce Mathematically


inclined pupils. The framework comprises learning areas, processes, skills, attitude
and values.

Using four appropriate examples, discuss the extent to which the framework helps the
Mathematics teacher to bring about Mathematical thinking in the classroom.

2. Committed teachers are always prepared to be able to carry out their duties based on
the developments and the dynamic changes that occur in both domestic and foreign
context.. Hence, teachers should always be sensitive to the changes and
development of the latest curriculum.

Describe four methods how in-service teacher can ensure that they understand ,
master and apply PdPc that meet the requirements of the current curriculum. The
description should be accompanied by relevant examples for the Mathematics
teacher .
