Nurses for Germany Program

OVERVIEW

WHAT IS MY LANGUAGE CAFÉ?

My Language Café is a Language School under German Management, located in Cebu City, offering
international languages such as German, French, Spanish, Japanese and Korean.
Even though English is widely spoken in much of the world, the fact is that the global economy depends on
communication in different languages. Thus, we provide Filipinos and foreigners with the cultural training and
language learning skills they need to succeed in the global business world.
Our programs focus on Language Skills Development for students, skilled workers, professionals and emigrants
with a creative and modern approach to language teaching in a relaxed and stress-free atmosphere: Small
groups, friendly teachers, effective learning.
Besides teaching one-on-one or group classes, we also offer our services to corporate groups and other
institutions.

HISTORY

This establishment has already been running in Cebu since the year 2011. The owner Cynthia Becker decided
to put up this business to help Filipinos improve communication with foreigners and to give them more
opportunities, since employers of bigger companies inside and outside the country need people who can
speak their language.

MISSION AND GOALS

We commit ourselves to recruiting and retaining highly qualified faculty and staff; providing a learner-centered
education committed to life-long learning; generating new knowledge to address the needs of the community
and society; and producing students with great passion and knowledge of the language they have taken.
Our goal is to establish several branches in the Visayas region to give more people the opportunity to join our
programs.
With My Language Café – Cebu being our main office and My Language Café - Bohol and My Language Café -
Dumaguete being our first branches, we are planning to open more branches within this and the following
year.

ADVICE & SUPPORT

My Language Cafe will always be your contact in case you have questions or concerns along the way. We can

RECOGNITION AS A NURSE IN GERMANY

If you want to work as a registered general nurse in Germany without any restrictions, you need a state

profession.
You may also apply for a state license if you have foreign qualifications. The competent authorities review your
qualifications for equivalence with a corresponding German qualification.

To be able to work in Germany, speaking the German language is a must. Therefore, the German government
requires foreign health care professionals to study the language up to level B2.

QUALITY ASSURANCE AND SOLUTIONS

TEACHERS
● We commit ourselves to recruiting and retaining highly qualified native German teachers.
● We regularly ask both students and teachers for feedback regarding the quality of the class and take
concerns and issues very seriously.
● We hold individual and group meetings with teachers and staff to ensure everyone is in line with the
school’s vision and targets.

CHAPTER TESTS, VOCABULARY TESTS AND INTERNAL EXAMINATIONS

In our German classes, we use standardized books. After each chapter of the book there will be a chapter test
and a vocabulary test. At the end of each level there will be an internal exam. The students have to pass it with
at least 75% before they can proceed to the next level.
● If the score is below 75%, we will instruct the student to review and retake the exam after one week
before proceeding to the next level. Each class has the option to extend the class hours as a group for
their current level. The individual student has the option to either sit in another batch, ask the teacher
for assignments so he/she can self-study, or book private lessons before taking their second exam.
● If the score is below 60%, we would ask the students to repeat the level (at 25% of the course fee) or to
review and retake the exam after two to three weeks. The students have the same options as above.

ATTENDANCE, PUNCTUALITY AND HOMEWORK

● Our teachers are provided with an attendance sheet for each class to take note of each student's
attendance, participation and progress. They also have access to a google sheet to encode their notes
online.
● School admin also regularly asks the teachers for feedback or concerns regarding the progress of
students and also schedules individual chats with the students.

GROUP STUDY
In addition to regular class hours, we recommend our students to attend a weekly group study session with a
tutor who is there to help reviewing the lessons and home work. We encourage the students to organize
additional group study sessions and we reserve one classrooms for that purpose on any given day. During their
group study sessions, our students have access to all our resources.

SPECIAL COURSES
We are developing additional programs such as examination reviews that can be availed in addition to their
regular German classes.

REVIEW CLASSES
Between each level, there is a one-week break. This gap week can be used for review classes, if needed. In the
event that a student fails the official B2 exam, we also offer B2 exam reviews before their next scheduled
exam.

12-MONTH PERIOD GOAL

Our German Intensive training has an estimated time of 9-10 months to prepare the students adequately for
the official B2 examination and most importantly for a life as a nurse in Germany; with an additional period of
2-3 months for the German B2 examination and VISA application we target a timeline of 12 months.
