ABSTRACTION

This research paper focuses on how to improve the mathematics performance of Grade 7 slow learners

through peer tutoring. The research is based on Role Theory and Gestalt Theory that tutees may

respond better to their peers in acquiring new learning. This research will examine how the peer tutorial

could help the slow learner students to excel in a particular subject specially Mathematics and to

attempt to know if the peer tutoring really helps. The research is conducted in Sta. Ana National High

School, Davao City and the respondents are the grade 7 students of Dama de Noche. How could the

students enhance their performance? Does the peer tutorial as learning style could be useful to the

students? How can peer tutorial contribute to this performance and outcomes of the learners? These

issues will be addressed in the context of best practice regarding peer tutorial and the learners.

Research, records and observation were use to analyze the learning style of the students specifically the

peer tutorial. The researchers can now infer that the peer tutoring approach is an effective way of

improving student’s performance in the mathematics subject.
