Independent Study Mentorship is a higher level course
for juniors and seniors that allows them to shadow a
professional in the profession they wish to study.

• Requirements
I. Must have 3 hours of mentorship per week
II. Must complete a Journal entry & Activity log
each week
III. Must obtain a Online Portfolio
IV. Must complete 2 activity hours per week
 Project Topic

The Project topic I will be studying this

semester is PPE& infection control
awareness.
PPE is a protective clothing that is
designed to protect us from injury or
illness. Infection control is a group of
techniques that are used to help us
keep a health lifestyle. I chose this
topic because when I obtain
mentorship, the nurses I shadow wear
PPE and I would really like to educate
people on why its so important to
protect our bodies.

video instructing the correct way to put on
PPE.

Steps on creating my product

1. Do research on how to correctly wear
PPE
2. Observe the correct way to put on PPE
3. Practice putting on PPE
4. Create product by making video
 Conclusion
What I hope to learn from my mentorship
experience this year is a better understanding
of the different types of nursing. By
completing my product I hope to learn the
correct way to put on PPE and which
procedures they are needed for. From my
project topic and research I hope to learn
more about the other fields other than
healthcare that must wear PPE.
 I wanted to give a big thank you to my
mentor Mrs. Emily Brown for allowing
me to shadow her and sharing her
thoughts. I also wanted to thank
