Directions

Using  the  engineering  design  process,  you  are  to  work  in  your  collaborative
group  to  design  and  build  a  house  that  will  withstand  the  force  of  air    for  5
seconds  that  mimics  the  Big  Bad  Wolf’s  huffing  and  puffing.

After  the  competition,  you  will  use  Flipgrid  to  record  a  reflection  video
about  your  house.

Criteria
− You  have  to  sketch  your  house  design.
− Get  your  design  approved  by  teacher  before  building  house.
− List  all  materials  that  are  being  used  for  your  house  and  label  house  parts.
− You  may  cut  any  resource.

Constraints
− You  will  have  5  minutes  to  brainstorm,  sketch,  and  select  your  house  design.
− You  will  have  20  minutes  to  build  your  house.
− You  may  not  tape  your  house  to  a  table,  chair,  floor,  or  other  object.
− Use  appropriate  tools  (scissors)  to  cut  resources.

We first started by drafting our house. We re-designed our house twice before starting to build it due to
having to fit the “pig” inside. We then started building the house. We used all four paper clips, 8 popsicle
sticks, all of the masking tape, some of the construction paper, and some of the string. We ended up building
a teepee like house as a team. Each member of our team worked on different aspects such as taping, building
the structure and creating the design. One of our team members mentioned that our house was “small but
mighty”. At the end, our house ended up in third place! Every member of our team really enjoyed the
process of completing this project!
