For The last five years, Syrians have been fleeing their war-torn nation. However, they
face a number of challenges and are always stuck in a limbo in their pursuit to seek refuge in
America. The Government of America has established regulations that can control the number
being allowed in the country. The vetting procedure includes security checks, interviews, and
health screening. The process was directed by President Obama, and is executed by the Program
for Refugee admissions and state department. The paper seeks to evaluate the resettlement of the
The department of State confirmed that America commenced the resettlement last year
after United Nations submitted recommendation proposals. These refugees apply for the
resettlement via United Nations and their databases are screened by the F.B.I then run by Federal
agencies and the department of defense. The census figures demonstrate that one hundred and
fifty thousand Syrians are already settled in America. Moreover, the government plans to resettle
some of the refugees next to their relatives, while those without families around would be
resettled in areas they can afford housing and job opportunities. Refugees are then assisted to
access housing and work, but the government anticipates that after a year they should be self-

new ones settle, by helping them acquaint with the environment, food, and the movement
procedures.
Dayton city has been helping with additional refugee resettlement as directed by
President Obama. The process of resettlement will be handled directly by the state department
and Catholic social services institutions. The city has very generous and charitable by the attitude
they have manifested in welcoming the refugees. It has successful health care, community faith-
based organizations, education and housing. They work in unity with the social services of the
Catholic institutions to help with the process. Consequently, the mayor of the city has welcomed
the initiative, emphasizing they need even more refugees. That has been a bigger step to provide
good political will. Nevertheless, in the wake of Paris attacks the mayor has called upon the
Homeland Security to ensure the safety of everyone residing in the area regardless of the origins
of the residents.
The program of resettlement has been subjected under strict scrutiny after wave of attacks
across Europe. America has trained special bodies that ensure that the persons meet the right
criteria of a refugee and is not a threat to national security; they then examine and authenticate
the claims of the applicant-seeking asylum. The American government is not taking the process
lightly unlike in Europe where the refugees arrive in the countries via aircraft, land or by boats
randomly. The state has ensured they carry out a thorough investigation over a period of eighteen
months and even more to establish the genuine persons. In addition, they have built a reliable
system that revolves around agencies that vet the process and can be accountable in case
anything arises. These refugees are not sent to one particular area of America, but the agencies
analyze the refugees’ cases and then determine an area that can suit them in accordance with

their data. The reasons revolve around their family connection and personal life. They try if it is
probable that the persons can meet relatives or people they know since this would boost their
settling in and learning the new environment quickly. Other factors considered include language
abilities, health conditions, and job availability prospects. After the vetting process, the
American government pays for the refugee’s tickets but after settling and beginning work, the
Nevertheless, the refugees are not entitled to subsidize long-term housing plans. They are
provided with one thousand dollar stipend which is suppose to cover their rent among other
expenses for the first three months, no special treatment they just receive same rates as any other
American citizen. Refugees ought to apply for jobs too since most of them have at least some
education credentials. Syria is middle low economy country. However, they find themselves in
manufacturing and hotel industries. After their arrival, the government does not follow up on
them; they are legally allowed to move in the American environment just like any other resident.
In case a refugee wants to relocate to another state, the agencies would handle the process, but it
is not always a guarantee. The refugee is also accepted to select areas with people who speak
their native language. It sometimes creates a state where refugees who originate from similar
Some of the procedures the refugees go through seem very discriminating, for instance,
medicine, they go through a rigorous process of acquiring licenses. Their potentials get limited
hence, they settle for less paying jobs like working low skilled individuals in manufacturing
firms and hotels. As they are subjected to same housing rates as the native America citizen so

the refugees, the system would look bureaucratic thus a threat to the national security. On the
positive, it is a good practice by the American government to be able to link the refugees to their
lineages or relatives, it brings a sense of belonging and cohesiveness where they dwell. People
would want to live in an area where they can easily express themselves without fear or prejudice.
The concept of building belief among the Syrian opponents should be enforced as a
crucial ingredient to creating a stable nation. The affected parties have highlighted a disloyalty
among each other, thus, they require security and a surety of survival. The distrust continues to
hurt the innocent persons in the nation. As a result, they find themselves as refugees in various
guarantee a negotiated peace agreement that would address the conflict causes and bring the
conflict to a halt.
In conclusion, the Syrian conflict continues to entangle in an antagonism that has claimed
innocent lives through brutal and ruthless murder. In most occasions civil strife only lead to
military victories rather than the negotiated ceasefire and settlements. Thus, the common Syrian
citizen troubles never end. Successful negotiations need an indifferent arbitrator with absolute
commitment that fearlessly engages the opposition in an action planned peace initiative.
However, without the involvement of this third part with full focus, Syrian might continue to
burn and turn her innocent citizens to immigrants all over the world, which is difficult to brand
as home. The success of this initiative, therefore, rests upon the well-timed resolutions that
would triumph over the hardliner stance of war hence restore peace in Syria.
