2)A Deep groove ball bearing have bore diameter of 60 mm and rotating at 1440 rpm is
subjected to radial load of 2500 N and an axial force of 1200 N. The radial and thrust
factors are 0.56 &2.0. The Load Factor is 1.2. The expected rating life is 2500 hrs.
calculate required dynamic load carrying capacity and select the bearing from
manufacturer’s catalogue
Q.3 A system of four identical ball bearings each subjected to radial load of 2500 N.
Reliabilty of the system i.e. one out of four bearings falling during lifetime of 5 million
revolution is 82%. Determine dynamic load carrying capacity so as to select the bearing
from manufacturer’s catalogue on the basis of 90% reliability.

Q. 4. Derive Beam Strength equation for spur gears with assumptions made.

Q. 5 Three spur gears of specified diametric pitch , numbers of teeth and pressure
angle are shown in the figure. Pinion “A” transmits 10 KW running at 600 rpm and
rotates in anticlockwise direction, from input gear to output gear through an idler gear B
as shown in figure. Show & determine the forces on gear B

Q.6 Design a pair of spur gear with 20 degree full depth involute teeth consists of 20
teeth pinion meshing with 50 teeth gear. The pinion shaft is connected to 22.5 KW
,1450 rpm electric motor. The starting torque is 150 % of rated torque. The material for
pinion is FG200 and for gear Fe 410. The factor of safety is 1.5 Design the gear on the
basis of Lewis equation and using velocity factor method Lewis form factor for 20 & 50
teeth are 0.32 & 0.408 respectively. Recommended series of module is 7 or9.
