EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The stock market is growing immensely and there is a huge competition between the
stock broking companies. Any investor who are found to invest in the stocks of the
company its very difficult to judge the perfect combination of the stocks to invest. The
study is to find the perfect combination of the stocks and company to be selected. This
research states that investor are not willing in investing in stock and commodity
market due to lack of knowledge. Finally the aim of investment is returns and liquidity,
commodity market is comparetively less preferred by investors due to lack of
awareness. The report says people are ready to invest in stock market but they lack of
knowledge.

Portfolio means mixture of securities which may take the description of their
individualities. Checking of portfolio is based on the measurement of risk involved in
different securities. So it is important for any investor to have an optimal return with
risk involved and a proper mix together of securities. So in order to get maximum
return with least involvement of risk at all times we must have the security
investigation and portfolio investigation techniques, so to form a premium portfolio
out of it which helps the individual to get good returns ‘Optimal portfolio structure
technique or model is an efficient one.

The company in which internship carried out was IndiaNivesh Securities ltd, located in
Bangalore which is a stock broking company with its Main branch in Mumbai. The
services provided by the firm are Equity in cash and derivatives , online based trading
, De-mat account, Debt market broking, currency, life insurance, merchant broking and
commodity trading.

The main aspire of the project designing and constructing an optimal portfolio which
guides an investor on making his / her investment through Sharpe’s single index model.
The company also guides their customers based on the portfolio made and investment
with less risk or return is guaranteed. Eventually the project provides better suggestions
to the investors to have a optimal portfolio and make investment decisions.

The internship program is there to provide students engaged in a field experience with an
opportunity to share their insights, to explore the links between students' academic preparation
and their field work, and to assist participants in developing and carrying out the study which
will serve to culminate their internship experience.

Internships are individualized and tailored to the needs and interests of each student in the
program. As part of the internship experience, students are expected to take an active role in
finding an appropriate internship for themselves. Many students pursue their own contacts,
however, information is available on Locating Internship Sites. The main objective was to get
an understanding of the structure and functioning of the organization.
