So how then can we protect animals and prevent them from becoming
⑥extinct ? First, we need to check human greed by preventing man from
felling trees unnecessarily. Trees should always be replanted if they are felled.
Pollution should be controlled. There should be limited if not zero ⑦disposal
of solid wastes into the sea. More campaigns should be launched to teach the
public on the need to keep our beaches clean.
At the moment, the world is losing one species of wildlife almost every day. The two
main causes of this decline are the (destroy ) destruction of their habitat and over-
population by human beings. Every minute of the day, 20 hectares of tropical rainforest
are cut down or burned. Hundreds of wild species – insects and plants – are lost as a
result. If it goes on, rainforests (disappear)will disappear in 50years’time. They are
vital in (keep) keeping the Earth’s climate and environment stable. If they are
destroyed, mankind will suffer as well as wildlife. As cities grow and industry (
develop) develops around them, pollution becomes another problem for wildlife.
Friends of Earth believe that two-thirds of the world’s population will be living in urban
areas by the year 2025. Something must be done! In theory, (more ) most countries
agree that there should be no trade in endangered species. Ninety-five countries have
already signed the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild life
and Fauna and Flora. The Conventions aims ( ban ) to ban trade in endangered species
and to limit trade in any species whose population is declining fast. However, in reality
trade in (threat) threatened species is still big business. People can buy fur coats
made from the fur of jaguars, snow leopards and other cats
facing extinction.
This will definitely reduce the amount of rubbish I throw away. Of course, it
can be quite( inconvenient- convenient- disconvenient) but 'little drops
of water make the mighty ocean'.
There seems a lot to be done. I will start today. I will get my family and my
friends to participate in Earth Hour. One small step toward saving the
environment
Good luck
