Lyons takes over as Fiji Times head
Fiji Times chairman Kirit Patel has welcomed the appointment of
Christine Lyons as the new general manager of the country’s old-
est and largest media company.
Lyons who has 18-years of media leadership experience has been the
national sales manager for the company for the past three-years
and takes over the top job from Hank Arts who has left the coun-
try for greener pastures after being in the top job for seven-years.
With the newspaper company turning 150-years-old this year, hav-
ing started with a humble beginning in the old capital - Levuka in

the company.
“Christine has been with us for the past three-years and she is the one
who has proved to have her feet on the ground, very engaging and
connecting well – not only with fellow staff but with people out in
the market,” Mr Kirit Patel said.
“With her additional qualifications and upskilling, she is really well
positioned to take the challenges of being the general manager of
the Fiji Times and we, the board of directors have the full con-
fidence in her to lead the company to greater heights,” Mr Patel
added.
Her appointment also coincides with the revamping of the two
weekly vernacular newspapers – Shanti Dut and Nai Lalakai re-
spectively.
“I think it was about time that Fiji Times revamped its both vernacu-
lar papers because of the changing scene which people expected
in the market,” Mr Patel added.
“This was long overdue as readers demanded for newness and some-
thing different and the revamped editions of Shanti Dut (Hindi) Fiji Times Pte Ltd general manager Christine

Historic visit to Dog

Nitesh Chand returns with wealth
of knowledge in winemaking
Motibhai Group’s manager
hospitality sales Nitesh Chand has
returned with a wealth of knowl-
edge following his one-week stint
at New Zealand’s leading boutique
winery – Dog Point Vineyard.
Located in Marlborough, New
Zealand’s premium wine growing
region, Dog Point Vineyard pro-
duces wine that reflects the experi-
ence and passion of the people that
make them.
All fruit is from hand-picked,
low cropped vines grown under
organic principles. Wines are made
to drink well on release or cellar
gracefully for many years.
“I was at the Dog Point Vine-
yard for eight-days to partake in
the 2019 vintage harvest and up-
skill my knowledge in winemaking
and better understand the viticul-
ture process at the vineyards,” Mr
Chand told Inbox.
