During this course, I was able to gain so much knowledge on creating lesson plans that

promote student learning for all students. The TPE that I feel I acquired a lot of new information

is TPE 4: Planning Instruction and Designing Learning Experiences for All Students, elements 4

and 7. I found that the Fieldwork Assignments, as well as the reading assignments allowed me to

gain new information on creating effective lesson plans and learning environments for all students.

The artifact I have selected for this course is The Signature Assignment.

For someone with very minimal experience in a classroom, like me, creating a lesson plan

for the very first time was not a simple task. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to observe a

wonderful teacher various times throughout the course who gave me a substantial amount of ideas

and strategies that I could implement on my own lesson plan. With that said, I will explain why I

have selected TPE 4, elements 4 and 7 in correlation with my artifact for my showcase.

When creating a lesson plan, it is prominent that we, as teachers provide a variety of

different methods to promote student learning. Element 4 is creating effective learning

opportunities for all students and using a variety of different instructional techniques. In my lesson

plan I made sure to implement Universal Design for Learning as well as all six elements to ensure

that all my students are given the opportunity to be successful.

Element 7 on the other hand, is promoting an array of strategies that encourages student

participation and communication strategies. This was something I made sure to apply onto my

lesson plan as it is a great method to make students more involved and engaged in any assignment.

Promoting student participation is key when creating lesson plans because I want to provide my

students with the ability to participate and communicate as much as possible.

This course has benefited me in so many ways and I am grateful to have had the experience

to observe the lessons that I did. I was able to gain knowledge on how to implement effective
methods for lesson plans as well as see examples of lesson plans from the teacher I had the

privilege to observe. This opportunity will benefit me as well as my students since I have acquired

some techniques I will put into effect throughout my own lesson plans in the future.
