promote student learning for all students. The TPE that I feel I acquired a lot of new information
is TPE 4: Planning Instruction and Designing Learning Experiences for All Students, elements 4
and 7. I found that the Fieldwork Assignments, as well as the reading assignments allowed me to
gain new information on creating effective lesson plans and learning environments for all students.
The artifact I have selected for this course is The Signature Assignment.
For someone with very minimal experience in a classroom, like me, creating a lesson plan
for the very first time was not a simple task. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to observe a
wonderful teacher various times throughout the course who gave me a substantial amount of ideas
and strategies that I could implement on my own lesson plan. With that said, I will explain why I
have selected TPE 4, elements 4 and 7 in correlation with my artifact for my showcase.
When creating a lesson plan, it is prominent that we, as teachers provide a variety of
opportunities for all students and using a variety of different instructional techniques. In my lesson
plan I made sure to implement Universal Design for Learning as well as all six elements to ensure
Element 7 on the other hand, is promoting an array of strategies that encourages student
participation and communication strategies. This was something I made sure to apply onto my
lesson plan as it is a great method to make students more involved and engaged in any assignment.
Promoting student participation is key when creating lesson plans because I want to provide my
This course has benefited me in so many ways and I am grateful to have had the experience
to observe the lessons that I did. I was able to gain knowledge on how to implement effective
methods for lesson plans as well as see examples of lesson plans from the teacher I had the
privilege to observe. This opportunity will benefit me as well as my students since I have acquired
some techniques I will put into effect throughout my own lesson plans in the future.
