Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen
First and foremost, let’s say alhamdulillah to the almighty ALLAH swt who has given us the health and
chance untill we can meet in this such a good occasion. And shalawat and salutation we give to our
prophet MUHAMMAD SAW who has guided us to a better direction, leaving the darkness to the bright
life and we really hope his hand in the day after doom later amin ya rabbal ‘alamin.

tanjungbalai. In this golden chance i would like to carry out a speech undertitled :
THE ROLE OF STUDENTS IN FACING ASEAN ECONOMIC COMMUNITY

Ladies and gentlenmen

Established in late 2015 by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (itself founded in 1967), the
AEC has been seen as a way to promote economic, political, social and cultural cooperation across the
region. The idea was to move South-East Asia towards a globally competitive single market and
production base, with a free flow of goods, services, labour, investments and capital across the 10
member states.

In this 2017, we’ve already known that we are being in MEA era. Honestly i personality think that it is
a big challenge for indonesian because of some points in asean economic community namely :
1. A highly integrated and cohesive economy
2. A competitive, innovative, and dynamic ASEAN
3. Enhanced connectivity and sectoral cooperation
4. A resilient, inclusive, people-oriented and people-centred region
5. A global ASEAN. From some point i mentioned ladies and gentlemen

We should realize that there will be a big change for other contries to control our country that will
make indonesian cant’ be the master in their our country.
As the real of fact the ex-official staff of army ever stated that “ 75 up to 80 % our natural resources
has been controled by strangers or other countries.”
Looking this condition, all of us should aware that there must be something to do especially from us,
the students.

Because brothers and sisters...

The young generations like us is the key for indonesia future. We are the pillars of indonesia succses
in the future. So, what should we do for facing Asean Economic Community as students ?
If you were a student, rather than just uploading your video to Youtube and uploading your selfie
photos to Instagram, you can do a bigger things with your social media. Start from socializing what is
the AEC and its benefits to your friend, participating on AEC forum or discussion, giving concrete
contribution to society.
The questions now, how ? how can we involve in it ?

Ladies and gentlemen

There are some steps we can use for facing MEA As students :
1. Start from believing. We must beieve that we can be the shield for this country. Because we
are young generations should prevent indonesia controled by others. Belief is like a vitamin
that will trigger our passion and strength to work with.
2. Study harder. Is it as that simple ? brothers and sister, frankly speaking. It is the most difficult
thing i found currently. As the evidence Education qualification rank is still lower. We, students
should realize that we are able to compete with others, locally,regionally, nasional or even
internasional level. There has been a program held by government to other countries about
education it is call student exchange.
3. Find and occupy a good hobby. As the matter of fact. Working with our hobby later will trigger
our daily passion and creat a comfort situation for working. Like photographer, designer,
playing music or trading activity.
4. Get involve with some external activities. The students should join some organization to blend
with the society or many people, like following the acadamic and leadership workshop or join
in some online forum discussion about Asean Economic Community. With this, the students
will learn and touch directly how to interact with othe people. It also will open the chance for
us the students to get informations or even for job seeker after graduation.
Ladies and gentlemen
In the top of my speech, let’s hand in hand to make all people realize, prepare and improve our self-
qualification. As students, let’s get a great academic achievement, have a good social intercourse and
occupy a good hobby with our friends. By doing this all we all can say that we will use the asean
economic community as our bridge to get the better future.

I will end my speech by saying alhamdulillah hirabbil alamin.
