 Lesson  –  Fate  of  the  Gods    


Objectives    
• I  can  play  Fate  of  the  Gods  measures  52-­‐77  with  correct  notes  and  rhythms    
 
Procedures    
• Students  will  play  warm  ups  1  and  3  from  the  warm-­‐up  packets  (Brass  on  
mouthpieces    
• Students  will  play  F  stretches    
• Students  will  play  warm  up  5  from  the  warm  up  packet    
• Students  will  play  the  Chordal  tuning  exercise  in  Eb    
o Brass  on  mouthpiece  first    
• Students  will  play  the  tuning  exercise  
o Have  students  play  F,  G,  A,  Bb  together  (sing  then  play  a  Bb)  
• Have  students  play  an  Eb  major  scale  in  whole,  half,  quarter  and  eighth  notes    
• Have  students  take  out  Fate  of  the  Gods    
• Have  students  play  measures  77-­‐119  for  review    
o The  teacher  can  review  the  rhythm  from  97-­‐105    
o The  teacher  can  review  the  sixteenth  notes  at  97  in  the  woodwinds  by  
slowing  it  down    
• Have  everyone  play  at  measure  56    
o The  teacher  can  have  students  clap  the  rhythm  and  then  play  it    
• Have  the  clarinets/Alto  Sax  play  their  melody  at  60  
o Start  at  a  slower  tempo  and  work  back  up  so  students  can  work  on  
correct  notes    
• Have  everyone  play  measures  56-­‐68    
• The  trumpets  will  play  at  measure  68  for  the  rhythm  
o Have  students  clap/say  the  rhythm    
• Isolate  the  Horn  and  Alto  Sax  2  part    
o Have  students  sing  their  part  if  necessary  
• Have  the  Flutes/Clarinet  play  their  melody  at  68    
o Slow  down  the  tempo  and  work  back  up  so  students  can  work  on  
correct  notes    
• Have  everyone  play  measures  68-­‐77    
• Give  students  1  minute  to  practice  on  their  own  (measures  52-­‐119)  
• Have  everyone  play  from  measure  52-­‐119

Extension    
• If  there  is  time  at  the  end  of  class,  work  on  the  beginning    
o Build  the  chords  from  the  root  up    
o Isolate  the  triplet  in  measure  11  and  the  rhythm  at  measure  14    
o Have  everyone  play  from  the  beginning  to  measure  35
