 Answer all questions.


 Show all necessary working.
 All grade ten (10) classes are to complete Section A.
 Grades ten (10) Arts, Business and Science are to complete Section B.
 Grade ten (10) Technology – Agriculture alone will answer Section C.
 Approximate time to complete this paper 2 is 2 hours.
 Graph paper will be provided for question 2 in Section B.
 All students must have their own Geometry Sets.

SECTION A – MEASUREMENT & CONSTRUCTION


1. The diagram below, not drawn to scale, shows the cross-section of a prism in the shape of a

sector of a circle, centre O, and radius 3.5 cm. The angle at the centre is 2700. Take 𝜋 as .

Calculate:
(A) the length of the circumference of the circle 2 MARKS

(B) the length of the MAJOR arc ABC 2 MARKS

(C) the perimeter of the sector OABC 2 MARKS


(D) the area of the circle 2 MARKS

(E) the area of the MAJOR sector OABC 2 MARKS

2. Using a pencil, a ruler and a pair of compasses only,
(A) Construct accurately, the triangle ABC shown below;

𝐴𝐶 = 6 𝑐𝑚, ∠𝐴𝐶𝐵 = 600 , ∠𝐶𝐴𝐵 = 600 4 MARKS


(B) Complete the diagram to show the kite, ABCD, in which AD = 5 cm. 3 MARKS
(C) Measure and state the lengths of the diagonals BD and AC. 2 MARKS

(D) Measure and state the size of ∠ DAC. 1 MARK

SECTION B – STATISTICS & ALGEBRA

(A) Simplify the following algebraic expression:

(B) Express 𝑟 in terms of 𝑔 and 𝑣 for the formula;

(C) Expand and simplify:

(D) Given that 𝑚 = 5 and 𝑛 = −2, determine the value of 𝑚2 𝑛3. 2 MARKS

(E) Using laws of indices simplify the following;

(C) Using the cumulative frequency, construct a cumulative frequency curve and estimate the
median age for the number of persons who visited the clinic. 4 MARKS
