ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We have taken efforts in this project. However, it would not have been possible without the
kind support and help of many individuals and organizations. We would like to extend our
sincere thanks to all of them.

We are highly indebted to Mrs Sulochana Ma’am for his guidance and constant
supervision as well as for providing necessary information regarding the project & also for
his support in completing the project.

We would like to express our gratitude towards our parents & member of NIFT,
Hyderabad for their kind co-operation and encouragement which help us in completion of
this project.

Our thanks and appreciations also go to our colleague in developing the project and
people who have willingly helped us out with their abilities.

INTRODUCTION
Artificial intelligence is a branch of computer science, which creates software and hardware
that can act in a similar way to the human mind. Hence the creation of intelligent machines,
robots, that make life easier for all of us, because they are able to perform some actions typical
of human beings. All this is possible thanks to a set of algorithms, technologies and techniques,
which process data and make it possible for hardware and software to emulate people.

A famous example of AI was

the Deep blue computer which in
1996 won against world chess
champion Garry Kasparov! Since
then many steps have been taken
and artificial intelligence has been
applied in many different sectors!
Advances in Artificial Intelligence
(AI) and Automation will transform
our world. The current debate
centres not on whether these
changes will take place but on
how, when, and where the impact of artificial intelligence will hit hardest.

RESEARCHES AND ASSUMPTIONS

A research suggests that by 2030, intelligent agents and robots could eliminate as much as 30
percent of the world’s human labour. It also reckons that, depending upon various adoption
scenarios, automation will displace between 400 and 800 million jobs by 2030, requiring as
many as 375 million people to switch job categories entirely. A US based institution writes
alarmingly, “The United States would look like Syria or Iraq, with armed bands of young men
with few employment prospects other than war, violence, or theft.” With frightening
yet authoritative predictions like those, it’s no wonder AI and automation keeps many of us
up at night.

STRIDES IN AI IN CURRENT TIMES

 In 2018, Google showed off a new capability of Google Assistant: in the not too distant
future, it’s going to make phone calls on your behalf.
 CEO Sundar Pichai played back a phone call recording that he said was placed by the
Assistant to a hair salon.
 The voice sounded natural and the person on the other end had no idea they were
talking to a digital AI helper.
 Using AI, Tesla has come up with self-driven vehicles that can match speed to traffic
conditions, keep within a lane, and automatically change lanes without requiring driver
input.

IMPACT OF AI AND AUTOMATION – A BRIGHT FUTURE?

 Looking back on history, it seems reasonable to conclude that fears and concerns
regarding AI and automation are understandable but ultimately unwarranted.
Technological change may eliminate specific jobs, but it has always created more in
the process.

 By eliminating the tedium, AI and automation can free us to pursue careers that give
us a greater sense of meaning and well-being. Careers that challenge us, in still a sense
of progress, provide us with autonomy, and make us feel like we belong; all research-
backed attributes of a satisfying job.

 And at a higher level, AI and automation will also help to eliminate disease and world
poverty. Already, AI is driving great advances in medicine and healthcare with better
disease prevention, higher accuracy diagnosis, and more effective treatment and
cures. When it comes to eliminating world poverty, one of the biggest barriers is
identifying where help is needed most. By applying AI analysis to data from satellite
images, this barrier can be surmounted, focusing aid most effectively.

IMPACT OF AI AND AUTOMAATION – A DARK FUTURE

 It’s unlikely that the future will play out like the past. There’s no guarantee that more
jobs will be created than are destroyed by AI and automation.
 Even if the future does play out like the past, the jobs being created will require re-
skilling and better education. These services aren’t currently provided. Unless we
make major changes, we’ll have hundreds of millions of people who can’t get jobs and
all—both “blue” and “white” collar workers—will suffer from it.
 Even if we manage to deal with this transition effectively, virtually all jobs will
eventually be eliminated by machines.
 That being said, by leveraging our humanity—our ability to organize and lead social
movements, self-educate, and synthesize information creatively—we give ourselves
the best chance of success in a rapidly changing world.

WILL THE INTELLIGENT MACHINES PERMANENTLY REPLACE MAN?

 No, they will change the way they work, but they will not replace the man, because the
machines need human intervention to work. The thermostat that regulates the
temperature of the environment, has been previously set, the IBM robots that identify
the energy losses and the failure of the equipment and reduce the production costs of
the finished product, have received the input from human colleagues.

 The machines will never definitively replace man, but will support human work, making
it more effective. The world of work will change, so workers will have to develop new
skills to “collaborate” with machines.
 The AI, to give another example, will also help those suffering from severe disabilities
and is currently cut off from the world of work. It will help those who perform repetitive
tasks, which will be entrusted to the robots, to allow people to engage in different and
more creative activities

CONCLUSION

 AI is a great opportunity, which if used with a view to collaboration with man, will give
great results: man gives the machine the data necessary to operate and the machine
will enhance human work.
 Intelligent machines are opening their space also in marketing: we are witnessing many
uses of artificial intelligence in companies in Italy and we often do not even know how
to use products and services created thanks to AI.
 Well then come artificial intelligence in companies, because it will bring efficiency and
competitiveness! The machines, in fact, are able to process the data held by companies
with a higher precision than human, to provide information on customers, which will
help human workers to do targeted marketing.
 The robots will not destroy the jobs, but will create new jobs, giving birth to new
professionals: they say the studies, like the one taken by Capgemini, 83% of the
companies interviewed have created new positions thanks to smart machines and sales
they have increased by 10%!
 All this implies a conscious use of the machines and the acquisition of new skills for all
the workers who will have to work together with the machines.
 The artificial intelligence is slowly making its way, but it will take a change of mentality
and more courage in investment!
