Note 1: “Additional Entity” is any entity including, but not limited to, sub-operators, additional sites and sub-contractors, that are
involved with the fair-trade products of the Certified Operator and whose activities are controlled by the Certified Operator
through ownership or by contract.

Note 2: Product categories are defined as each separate Fairtrade Product Standard, e.g. cocoa, sugar, coffee etc. Each Composite
Product is categorised by its main ingredient and counts as one product

Note 3: Operator categories (A-D) are defined in “3. // DEFINITION OF OPERATOR CATEGORY A, B, C, D” of this document.

Note 4: Large volume and small volume are defined “4.. // DEFINITION OF VOLUME CATEGORY LARGE, SMALL” of this document.

Note 5: If you are the payer of Fairtrade price and/or Fairtrade premium e.g. Importer/Exporter you cannot be classified as a small
operator. Any organisation, additional operator entity or subcontractor whose annual revenue turnover is more than 5 million
Euros cannot be a small operator.

Note 6: Product retro-certification means that Fairtrade eligible product is bought on commercial terms and then, after it is sold as
Fairtrade certified, the producer is paid the Fairtrade Premium and price adjustment. Camellia sinensis tea, citrus juice and
sugar importers that say in writing they will not do retro-certification pay the normal basic fee.

Note 7: Travel supplement applies when there is an additional site in another country to that of the primary operator.
