Presentation

Living and born in Bogotá, capital city of Colombia (South America). More than 2.7
million words have passed through my mind during the last two and half years, either
as an Active Translator or Project Manager for big projects undertaken by our Four
Translator Teamwork, leaving a huge experience and knowledge in text translating
mainly within the fields of Automobile, Technical Manuals, Enterprise/Marketing,
Dentistry and Medicine and Natural Sciences —among others of less intensity—, which
added substantially to the knowledge got through eighteen years of professional
translation activity, plus about thirty five years of devoted learning to English and
Spanish languages.

English-Spanish Translation Advanced Course.

January – December 1995. After having reached a high level of English knowledge,
traveling to the United States of America for practicing became a most, which I did
first to Miami and from there to several States around the Gulf of México, always
seeking after getting in touch with as much people as possible to get involved in real
conversation.

way to understand and make rough translations of Scientific Literature I was working

and Conversation, using lately the Web and Communication Media as a source for

Professional Experience

I got 21 years as professional translator and 4 years as consecutive interpreter.

Rates

As for consecutive interpretation the rate shall be US$400/day (8 hours a day),

For most specialized field translations the minimum rate is US$0.07/word, which could
go up to US$0.09/word, depending on complexity of text and format editing.

Payment Method

Interpretation jobs shall be paid 50% of the fee through bank wiring two days before
starting business meetings to confirm the arrangement, and the balance not later than
9:00 A.M. on the final day. All jobs require P.O. before start.

As for text translation jobs all payments shall be made through Bank Wiring 30 days
after date of invoice. All Jobs requiring P.O. before starting any translation.

Software

The tools used for translation are Windows 10; SDL Trados Studio 2017; SDLX;
Microsoft Office Package (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/FrontPage/Publisher/Visio, etc.);
Fireworks. Translation, proofreading and editing processes are done before delivery of
final work to the customer.
