CASSIA SOPHERA Q- Rattling in the throat without phlegmatic expulsion. Dyspnea


of winter aggravation. The complaint aggravates after exposure to dust, change of
weather , cold drinks, light , exertion, smoke, morning. Hoarseness of voice and
cough with pain in chest. Asthma is associated with itching.
ANTIMONIUM TART.30-Antimonium tart. Is prescribed when asthma occurs with
rattling . There is rattling cough as if chest is full of loose mucous, but there is little
expectoration of mucous.The cough is triggered by eating. There is drowsiness and
weakness. It is more suited to old people and young children.There is burning feeling
in chest and in some cases , there is a sensation of something velvety inside the
chest.This burning sensation ascend to the throat. The breathlessness is relieved by
eructation’s. The cough is better by lying on right side.

GRINDELIA ROB. Q- Cannot breathe when lying down . Must sit up to breathe . An
efficacious remedy foe wheezing and oppression . Foamy mucus very difficult to
detach

IPECAC 30- Asthma in children. There is violent wheezing cough. Chest seems full
of phlegm but does not come out on coughing. Child becomes stiff and blue in the
face Nausea may or may not be present.Attacks which occur early are also cured by
the use of this remedy.

NUX VOMICA 30—Nux vomica is an effective remedy for asthma with gastric
complaints. Nux Vomica is for difficult breathing associated with a feeling of fullness
and heaviness in the stomach, particularly manifested after a major meal. The
symptoms are aggravated after the meal, in the morning, and are increased by cold air.
Belching provides relief to symptoms of asthma. It is sometimes useful also in
difficult breathing arising from gastric disturbance.

ASPIDOSPERMA Q—Aspidosperma is considered a tonic for lungs. This


medicines removes temporary obstruction of the oxidation of blood by stimulating
respiratory centres. It is very useful in cardiac asthma. Give a few drop doses till the
feeling want of breath is over.

CARBO VEG 30-Carbo veg is prescribed when there is much abdominal irritation
present with much flatulence . Carbo Veg also corresponds to asthma in the aged who

JUSTISIA ADHATODA Q- Constricting pain across the chest during asthma. Cough
associated with haemoptysis after severe dyspnea. Expectoration is yellowish in

hoarseness of voice. Cough is associated with sneezing. Patient cannot endure a

KALI CARB 30- Kali carb is prescribed when asthma occurs 3 to 5 am. Dry hard
cough with pain in the chest. Expectoration is scanty , tenacious and offensive .
Wheezing better in warm weather.

MEDORRHINUM 200-Medorrhinum is prescribed when there is much oppressed


breathing. Hoarseness.Pain and soreness through chest and mammae.Incessant, dry
cough at night. Asthma better by lying in knee elbow position.

BOERHAAVIA DIFFUSA Q- Asthma.Coryza with dry cough and thick white


expectoration

LEUCAS ASPERA Q- Asthma, cough and sneezing

OCIMUM SANCTUM Q- Pain in the chest while coughing during asthma. Patient
cannot lie in bed during asthma. Pain in the middle of the sternum.

SOLANUM XANTHOCARPUM Q- Asthma associated with hoarseness of voice and


pain in chest. Fever is again associated with thirst and aversion to food. Burning pain

Aconite, Kali Carb, Thuja, Natrum Sulph, Belladonna, Ipecac,

Aconite – excellent remedy during acute attacks of asthma, which will ease
the breathing and cough. Symptoms of dyspnoea are often accompanied by
marked anxiety, fear and restlessness.
Arsenic alb – Asthma with great anxiety and restlessness, often worse
around midnight and lying down, better by sitting up and warm drinks.
Antimonium tart – is a good asthma remedy for children and the elderly
especially useful when the asthma has been caused by an infection. The
cough will have coarse rattling in the chest on both inspiration and expiration.
The patient will be worse lying down and at night generally. They may be

Aralia racemosa: Cough associated with constriction of chest, worse lying
down, after the first sleep, has to sit up and cough violently; asthma, with
oppression as from a weight on stomach, worse night on lying down, better
by raising a little tough mucus.
Ephedra vulgaris: Mother tincture is used to control asthmatic attack; in
reduced doses it is also helpful in pulmonary heart disease.
Ipecac -Asthma patients who suffer from coughing spasms resulting in
vomiting or retching. Cough with violent wheezing; chest feels full of
phlegm, but does not come out on coughing; acts well in cases of asthma in
children, child becomes stiff with blue face.
Carbo veg – Severe acute attacks of wheezing with significant belching and
flatus. Patient feels very weak and may collapse. Asthma in old patients;
great perspiration; patient wants fanning all the time; cough spasmodic with
vomiting and gagging all the time
Kali carb – this remedy often indicated when the attack comes at night, after
midnight, from 2 to 4 am. Symptoms worse from 3.AM – 5AM; pain in chest
with dry hard cough; scanty , offensive and tenacious cough; wheezing

Belladonna – this remedy works when there are violent spasms of asthmatic
breathing attended by constriction of chest. Redness of face during acute bout

Pulsatilla – Cough with green discharge. The patient must sit up during the

Sulphur – this remedy acts well when asthma is due to suppression of

craves open and fresh air.
Nux Vomica – attacks of asthma in the morning; with fullness of abdomen
after eating.
Natrum sulph. – attacks during wet weather or in rainy season. This remedy
acts well when the patient gets attacks every change of season. Cough is
relieved by holding chest by hands; asthma with bronchitis; humid asthma;

Cuprum met – cough with gurgling sound, relieve by drinking cold water;

Lachesis – asthma symptoms worse after sleep; after taking sour things.
Thuja – asthma in children; face become pale, sickly, and shiny; asthma

Medorrhinum – it is an intercurrent remedy for asthmatic complaints; when

that can be used during cholera and chickenpox when indicated by the

Arsenicum Album (Ars.)


Key Symptoms: Wheezing may be present but the cough will be dry. Asthma
from cold air. Asthma worse for lying; must sit upright or bent forward to
breathe.
Supporting Symptoms: Asthma triggered by dampness, cold food or drinks, or
watery fruit. Wheezing from allergies to cats, smoke, or dust. Thirsty for sips
of warm drinks.

Comments: One of the most common remedies for acute asthma. The person
will be restless and anxious, and symptoms are usually worse between
midnight and 3 am. At times, the restlessness will lead to exhaustion. They
will feel chilly and better for warmth, and feel better for sipping warm drinks.
Those who need Ars. constitutionally are likely to be nervous, anxious, critical,
and afraid of being alone. They are often perfectionists, have to keep things
meticulously tidy, and can be hard to please. Burning sensations that feel
better for warmth and often accompanied they are problems. Headaches
however will be relieved by cold applications.

Grindelia (Grin.)
Key Symptoms: Dry asthma. Wheezing may be present but the cough will be
dry.

Supporting Symptoms: Chronic bronchitis. Rattling respiration. Expectoration


of profuse sticky mucus improves asthma. Suffocating sensation on falling
asleep. Sleep apnoea. Breathing improved by sitting or standing.

Kali Bichromicum (Kali-bi.)


Key Symptoms: Asthma with sticky or stringy mucus. Breathing better if
coughing up mucous. Cough worsened by eating.

Supporting Symptoms: Asthma often dissociated with bronchitis, sinusitis, or


postnasal dripping. Wheezing during sleep.

Comments: These patients feel cold, and get sick after being chilled. Despite
this, they feel worse in summer. They get mucous membrane infections,
mostly in the respiratory tract. The mucous will be gluey, thick, stringy and
sticky. It may start out clear and then turn white or green, and can cause
ulceration. Pains can appear in many parts of the body, can migrate quickly,

Nux Vomica (Nux-v.)


Key Symptoms: Allergic asthma. Symptoms worse at 4am or on waking in the

exhaustion. They will overindulge in food, alcohol, and stimulants (especially
coffee), and may regret it later – as with a hangover. They can be irritable,
short tempered, nervy and do not suffer fools gladly. They are at their worst in
the morning or in cold weather. They tend to be neat and tidy, and expect the
same from others. Pains may be cramping and spasmodic. Their stomach
may feel heavy and sensetive to pressure. They are also very sensitive to
smells and light.

Phosphorus (Phos.)
Key Symptoms: Asthma from upper respiratory tract infections (head colds)
that go down to the chest. Asthma with coughing and wheezing.

Supporting Symptoms: Asthma worse from lying on the left side – may
improves on lying on the right side. Hoarseness with asthma. Tickling and
irritating cough. Asthma from odours (even flowers) and fumes.

Pulsatilla Pratensis (Puls.)

Key Symptoms: Asthma from allergies. Asthma worse for warm, stuffy rooms
and better in the open air. Asthma with thirstlessness.

Supporting Symptoms: ‘Juicy’ or green mucus with asthma. Asthma better the
cold air or air conditioning. Breathing better for sitting propped up. Asthma
with conjunctivitis and itchy eyes. Asthma from cats. Asthma worse at night.

Comments: Patients will be clingy, needy, sensitive, emotional and shy. Often
they will have blue eyes and blond hair, and are likable. They can whine and
be irritable, and are most often women or children. They are also very
sensitive and can be hurt by even slight criticism. They may be chilly or warm-
blooded, but in either case can’t stand stuffy rooms and feel better for fresh
air. Discharges are bland, thick and yellow or green. Their emotions can
change quickly and unexpected, as in from tears to laughter in a matter of
minutes. They bend easily, and crave sympathy and attention from others,
and make friends easily.
