SET - UP A SET - UP B

Trial 1 Trial 2 Average

Figure 3. Data interpretation of amount of copper in untreated and treated water

The figure above is a bar graph showing the interpretation of that of amount of copper in

two set – ups. As shown above the figure, we can interpret that the amount of copper has decreased

over 90% from its original amount. The two samples had the same amount of solution applied

before the experimentation. After the dalandan peels was applied, the values of copper left in

treated water were differ from the untreated water.

Statistical Treatment

𝐻𝑜 : 𝜇𝑆𝐴= 𝜇𝑆𝐵 𝐻𝑎 : 𝜇𝑆𝐴 > 𝜇𝑆𝐵

The researcher wanted to determine if the amount of copper after the experimentation is

less than before. If it will be less than, then there is a significant effect on treated aqueous solution

utilizing dalandan peels. The researcher set the level of significance at 0.05.
1. The average amount of copper in Set – up A is 0.3 g/mL while the average amount of

copper in Set – up B is 0.0141 g/mL.

2. The amount of copper decreased after the experimentation was 0.2859 or 95.3%.

3. The computed two sample hypothesis tests of means (T – test) value is 3.11which is higher

than the critical value of 2.92 at 0.05 level of significance. It was implied that 𝐻𝑜 is rejected

and 𝐻𝑎 is accepted. Therefore, Set – up B is less than Set – up A.

Conclusions

Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions were drawn:

1. Dalandan peels can be used to treat copper in an aqueous solution.

2. The presence of pectin and carboxylic acid in dalandan peels made a significant effect in

adsorbing copper in an aqueous solution.

3. Based on the statistical test, the computed two sample hypothesis tests of means (T – test)

value is 3.11 which is higher than the critical value of 2.92 at 0.05 level of significance.

Therefore the researcher concludes that there is a significant effect on treated aqueous

solution utilizing dalandan peels.

4. There is a significant difference between the untreated aqueous solution and the treated

aqueous solution.

Recommendations

Based on the results of the study, the following recommendations were presented:

1. The researcher recommends to find other waste materials which contains pectin and

carboxylic acid that can be used to treat copper.

2. The researcher also recommends to use dalandan peels as their specimen in adsorbing other

heavy metals.
