OBJECTIVE:-
Write a MATLAB program to plot various characteristics of three-phase
induction motor from the data obtained from the load test.

THEORY OF LOAD-TEST ON INDUCTION MOTOR:-

We know that as the induction motor is loaded the speed drops down.The value
of current increases and the power factor improves.The purpose of the load test
is to study the behaviour of an induction motor under load.Suppose the motor is
running on no load.The slip is small and a small no-load current flows.As the
mechanical load on the motor is increased,the speed drops due to its retarding
effect,the current and the rotor power output all increases.Thus,the motor adjust
itself to the new load conditions of the increased output,corresponding to which
the input current also increases and the speed drops a little.At the light load
condition,the power factor is lagging and poor in nature and under rated load it
is lagging but improves.

THREE-PHASE INDUCTION MOTOR:-

An induction motor also known as asynchronous motor is an AC electric motor

in which the electric current in the rotor is needed to produce torque and is
obtained by the electromagnetic induction from the magnetic field of the stator
winding.An induction motor can therefore be made without electrical
connections to the rotor.An induction motor’s rotor can be either wound type or
squirrel-cage type.Three-phase squirrel-cage induction motors are widely used
Qas industrial drives because they are rugged,reliable and economical.Single-
phase induction motors are used extensively for smaller loads,such as household
appliances like fans.In induction motor the ACpower supplied to the motor’s
stator creates a magnetic field that rotates in synchronism with the AC
oscillations.

CHARACTERISTIC-CURVE:-
The following characteristic curve was obtained :
CALCULATIONS:-
1. Torque=(s1-s2)*radius*g
Where,s1 and s2 are the obtained values of spring balance.
Radius=(19.5/2)cm.=9.75cm.=0.0975m.
g=9.8ms-2
and torque is expressed asN-m

RESULT:-
From the data obtained by the load test of three-phase induction motor the
characteristic curve was obtained by writing the MATLAB program on the
command window.
