I will compile my evidence by asking each student to show
me their completed “impression” within the play dough that
is supposed to represent a fossil.
Procedural steps:
1. Begin by introducing the topic to the students
2. Show the students a real fossil that contains an
impression from either a plant or animal.
3. Provide and pass out the materials
-Play dough
-Fossils
-Any thing that can leave an impression
4. Demonstrate and model how the activity is supposed
to be done for the students
5. Allow and encourage the students to partake in play
dough activity.
6. Assess whether or not the children were able to
successfully complete the play dough impression activity.
7. Clean up activity.

Authentic Materials: (Describe authentic real life, hands-on

materials.)

- Real fossils
- Materials to leave impressions (actual fossils, shells,
plants, etc)
- Play Dough
