10 Rules to Live By

To begin, and get a better understanding of what this passage is going to precede most

importantly you have to understand the meaning of ethics. Ethics are moral principles that you

act or say during the day, ethics can also be related to justice because they connect to the morals

that every individual has but most importantly justice shows other kinds of morals that claims

more with rights and society. My 10 rules are being guided by the frameworks of natural duty

and voluntary obligation, these type of frameworks talk about how you should treat other and

how you should act as an individual.

Primarily, in the 10 rules to live by I talk about how you should treat others and most

important how to be yourself as an individual. The first rule to my list is to “Do no harm”

towards anyone or yourself , I think that is one of the most outstanding rule because as an adult

or teen you should be aware of how impactful it can be towards anyone and how it can hurt to do

harm towards anyone or yourself emotionally and physically wise. As said in the first paragraph

this rule connects to natural duties because as a kid and now as an adult we take what we were

once taught and as a kid we were taught to not do harm at any time towards yourself and others.
Secondly, another rule in which it has to do with others is “Respect those who deserve

your respect”. This rule should be important as well as the others because why would someone

give out respect when you are not receiving it from them as well, no one wants to be respectful

and get a rude act or commentary after you have been respectful towards them. If someone was

to act respectful you should also give it to them back if you also want to be respected as a person,

this rule is voluntary obligation due to the act that you have received and now have to also do it

as a return.

Thirdly, not many people have this but in my opinion they should and some people

should show it a bit less which is “ Confidence”. Some people seem to be really confident to the

point where they seem to be cocky, personally I can not understand and like people that are like

that because they bring other people self esteem. Confidence is a major part of someone's life

because without confidence your esteem will be low, and if you seem to have a lot of confidence

don’t be cocky about it. This rule is also a natural duty because everyone is different and is

taught something different.

Fourthly, many teens and sadly some adults should be “Mature” nowadays people can’t

take situations serious and don't know how to act to something which in my opinion that is

something big in society because as a human being you should be mentally mature and aware of

any act. For instance, some teens be wanting to fight over irrelevant things you can be looking at

them and they be assuming the worst when probably the person watching is just making a good

compliment about them. Or even if the situation was bad you should talk instead of taking a bad

act. Rule #5 can also be related to this because you should “Find the best outcome” out of a

situation. Additionally rule #6 can also be related to the other rules because honesty can also be a
major part of being mature because you are not afraid to admit where you went wrong as a

person. These rules can be seen as a natural duty.

Furthermore, rule #7 is “ Don’t judge someone by its cover, get to meet them first” this

rule can also be added to rule #8 “Understand someone's point of view”. These rules talks about

yourself but mostly about other because a lot of people talk about other based on how they look

or how they are as a person and also having a different perspective from yours doesn't make

them any difference as you as a person everyone is different and just because they seem to be

different doesn't mean you can judge them. These rules can be seen as natural duty.

Next, being humble is something that talks a lot about someone because not only does it

show what you have but shows how much of a person you are. Some people brag a lot about the

things they have which are materialistic items in which you can buy and replace later on in life,

as a person people that are cocky about what they have seem to be those who brings others self

esteem down. People that are humble make them look more mature and have more respects

towards those who don’t have as much , and even if they did have a lot of things they don’t brag

about them they just let others see for themselves. Can be seen as natural duty.

Lastly, in the list of 10 Rule to Live By you should “ Help those who need something or

someone to talk to” because you never know what can happen at any instance and as part of

human beings some people never recognize or attempt to try to talk to those who need to talk to

or help until they are dead. As human beings we should interact more with those you we don’t

know and look out for each other because as well you never know when you would also be in

that position in life. This last rule can be seen as a natural duty.
Ultimately, as a human being with struggles and without perfections I developed my 10

rules by applying half of the rules based in others and the other half as yourself. This is important

because not only are you trying to be have respect towards yourself but you are also developing a

better image as well as putting respect for other people. The revisions I have made was that I had

to change 2 of them to put them more based on how you should improve a better image like I

previously said and how you should also look out for others. If I was to not make any changes

the 10 rules would have made it seem like a stuck up person made them and also I didn’t want

them to seem too nice and polite because as we all know no one is perfect but we can try making

the best out of anything.

Preceding, a discussion about how your life would be if you were to follow these rules. If

you were to follow these rules they would not only make you a better person but it will also get

you to places, we live in a society in where people don’t put pride aside and don’t give others

respect and as a people we should be more more interactive because we are also losing

communication due to technology, following these rules can make you meet new people and

most importantly you are also giving people something in return because you will give them joy

some people might be having a bad day and a simply hey can make someone's day.

Lastly, if everyone in the world was to follow these 10 rules in my opinion it would make

a drastic change because we are so used to not greeting each other in the streets and if we were to

greet each other some people would take in a bad way but if everyone was to follow these it

would honestly make a great impact. We would not only make yourself look good but also we

would make other look good as a person as well.
