A SURVEY OF SPECIES DIVERSITY AND ECOLOGICAL GROUP FROM THE RIVERBANKS DAPITAN CITY RIVER

ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to identify the ecological species group and to investigate the diversity among
them. The research area comprises. Vegetation sampling was carried out along 6 riverbanks.

Survey on Vegetation
This was surveyed and inventoried by setting up 10 m x 10 m plots along the edge of the river. Data on
vegetative cover includes stand density and species identification, out of which species importance and
dominance as well as species diversity will be determined. Meanwhile, all live plants measuring 0.1
diameter at breast (DBH) will be tallied and identified. The weed components will be similarly sampled
using 1m x 1m subplots within the 10 m x 10 m quadrats. From the foregoing data, species importance
and dominance was computed the following formula.
